Search returns no results with a particular string, though it should.

yes

search: animated -rating:s -video
which should return flash animations that are rated q and e right?
but no.

Errors or other messages returned (if any).
No attitudinal additional errors

video is aliased to animated. The system interprets animated -video as animated -animated.

what a weird thing to do... but i understand, uugh, is there a specific tag to remove webms?

animated -type:webm finds non-webm animations.

tried things like -type:webm -type:gif -type:mp4
no luck, they still show up

type:swf did what i needed, i should have thought of that first, haha

The system doesn't like it when you search multiple metatags. I've run into that problem a few times myself.
