Topic: Bad Tag:lying

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

There are currently 86203 works tagged with the tag lying which is either
1)lying down
or
2)Telling a lie

The tag should probably require som modifier to distinguish this.
e.g. lying down vs lying

I'm pretty sure we don't tag the factual accuracy of a character's dialogue... Or much else about their dialogue for that matter.

There's an underused tag called dishonesty. The act of telling a lie also seems be tagged with lies, a tag which is in the character category for some reason.

Edit 1: I couldn't find a specific character named lies, so I changed it to a general tag as all posts tagged with lies depict the act of telling the lie.

I suggest that dishonesty is aliased to lies, which would also be provided a wiki entry. People already try to tag for the act of telling the lie, otherwise these tags would never have been used.

Also, the_truth provides precedent for an existing tag on this very topic. It concerns me that there is a lot of support for the_truth, and very little for its counterpart. I'm worried that there's been a lot of posts unknowingly mistagged as lying, when they should have been tagged lies or something similar.

Edit 2: I added to the lying and lies wikis to clarify the two are different tags for different purposes.

I was thinking about making a alias suggestion, but I don't know what would be a better tag, lies or dishonesty?

Dishonesty is a trait. Lie is an action. Tagging actions is easier than tagging traits but lies may get confused with lying.

the_truth refers more to situations than what characters say. Several images of it don't have characters saying anything.

technically lying is the correct spelling for telling a lie but the gramatically correct way of saying someone is resting/posing in a horizontal position is by using the word lay or laying. Lying in no way describes someone who is laying down.

Incorrect.

You lay down something held.
You lie yourself down.

Lying_down might be a better tag than lying_(position)
