I hope you meant to implicate instead of alias the first suggestion...because there are monsters and characters that are specific to the Witcher 3, plus Geralt's look changes game to game...so it's important to keep the individual game tags intact rather than just throw them all in one big bucket.

We've aliased other franchises together for searchabilitys' sake. Don't see why we wouldn't do so with this franchise as well.

Could you give me an actual example of that happening?

Imo the better solution is keep the_witcher_3 tag and implicate:

the_witcher_3 -> the_witcher
the_witcher_2 -> the_witcher

There...now you can search the_witcher you will see EVERYTHING from the witcher universe. Not hard...and we didn't even have to nuke two tags to do it.

Never mind, I clearly remembered that wrong. Thought we had gone the alias way with the starcraft and warcraft franchises, which we evidently have not.

That would have been fucking horrible. 10x worse than combining the Witcher games. Jesus...glad that didn't happen :S

EDIT: Oh wait, nvm, I read that as combining the Starcraft and Warcraft series into one...I think you meant combining games like WCIII and WoW...which would have still been pretty dumb.

More like a hundred times worse, considering Warcraft is one of the biggest franchises on here apart from Pokemon, MLP, Sanic and the likes.

Sorta surprising how little Witcher content there is on here, considering the interesting designs of monsters in the games. Only ninety posts as of right now. Tho I'm sure there's more than a few posts that haven't been tagged properly.

World_of_warcraft is aliased to warcraft despite being only part of the franchise.
super_mario_bros, super_mario_bros_2, super_mario_bros_3 and super_mario_64 are aliased to mario_bros, each being games within the franchise.

Some franchises have their games and/or series aliased to them while others don't.

Yep, and don't forget about Pokemon. The main series is aliased, even though each generation has different human characters. Then there's persona, etc. Completely different characters in each installment, but it's aliased anyway.

Look at The Witcher posts: in most cases it's impossible to tell which game those are from. Some might even be based on the books. ...I don't see any reason not to alias it.

I keep forgetting that this is furryville and you guys don't have the same amount of images that other boorus do. Considering the low post numbers it probably doesn't matter as much as I previously thought.

Aliasing the_witcher_3 -> the_witcher

Might want to this as well...it's a tag that creeps in from other boorus:

Aliasing the_witcher_3:_wild_hunt -> the_witcher

and

Aliasing the_witcher_(series) -> the_witcher

+1 to the alias, -1 to the implication. Sure, there's mosnters specific to the third one, but they're still The_Witcher monsters. The_Witcher is the series, not "The Witcher 1."

Maybe I'm missing something in this thread, but what monster implication?

None were mentioned directly, but

While totally unrelated to tag aliases and implications, but still relevant to the Witcher game franchise, there's a closed beta for a Witcher card game on the Xbox One called "Gwent". I got a code for it for no apparent reason, but I already used it.

Not particularly my type of game, but I might post screenshots if people are interested.

If you think other people might be interested in talking about Gwent, creating a new thread for it is probably the best option.
