Topic: Changing mike_argentum from "copyright" to "artist" tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Hello. How's it going?

I made a mistake was made when I was editing tags. The artist in question, "mike_argentum" informed me that he wanted to edit some things into his posts here on e621 and take out certain things. The artist had his work as well as work he commissioned on here. I had the idea of putting "copyright" on the art he commissioned, and "artist" on the art he made himself. What ended up happening was the "copyright" tag completely overwrote the artist tags, so on the art he made, it now says "none" for the artist, and when I went to change it, it goes to this message:

<p>Tag type cannot be changed: Permission Denied when trying to change tag "mike_argentum" to type artist</p>

After some digging, I figured out that once you copyright something, and it goes over 100 pics on one tag, you can't change it without a mod. So I need help from a mod to help me change the "mike_argentum" from "copyright" tag to the "artist" tag again.

I hope I put this in the right place. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for reading my message. Have a great day!

Done. It was only by 11, so manually took out and put back in. Some, or most, will need suffixes, but it will be easier now.

The issue is that he only drew some of them, according to this fellow.
We'll need an appended tag.

Thank you so much, you guys. I really appreciate it. What's an appended tag for future reference?

One of them would have to be name_(artist) or name_(copyright).

What Random said. I went and changed it because having it default to the artist tag is better than having it default to the copyright tag.

So for example, I would put "mike_argentum_(copyright)"?

Okay. Thanks for the help. I'll go fix these tags now. Take care! :)

We don't tag character owners and commisioners, with the exception of big name companies. As such, the tag only needs to be an artist tag, and removed from his commissioned images. Just add to the description, Commissioned by [[Mike_Argentum]].

I've had Notme imply otherwise through DMail. They went and fixed a very long list of removed CO tags and personally asked me to stop. When asked, they (unknown if singular or plural) said that we are thinking up of a tag group for CO tags.

Basically, don't remove or add those tags.

So, we still don't add them ourselves, but we also don't bother removing them, and instead leave them to the staff? Weird.

You have no idea... I want to remain adamant on no character owner tags, but when Notme says otherwise I obviously will comply. I went and added tags that were also removed prior to myself removing them when I fixed those posts, of course Notme may say otherwise still.

Or, in shorthand: people removed some as well, and I went and re-added them.

Asking the source.

I can't link my DMails normally, nor am I going to screenshot them. That would be the equivalent of speaking for them, and I was asked/suggested to not do that by another, seperate admin.

Okay. So I fixed all of the tags to either "mike_argentum_(artist)" and "mike_argentum_(copyright)" respectively. Now how do I make them appear when I put just "mike_argentum" in the search box?

You'd need to submit an alias request, but you can't do that to both. It will show none right now, and you can either put it to _(artist), or to _(copyright), or maybe _(disambiguation) but I'd suggest otherwise. Hence what I was saying prior: it will (eventually) show both tags up top. It just needs to process the tags that were added and removed.

Search for Mike_argentum* instead. That asterisk acts as a wildcard, giving you any suffix available.

Okay. I got it. Where do I need to go to submit an alias request? Also, which tag do you recommend I use? Should I use "_(artist)" or "_(copyright)"? I don't really like "disambiguation", so I tend to avoid it altogether.

Oh okay. Thanks for that. The artist in question likes to keep it simple, and that works really well. ^^

Hey. Give me some credit for English. I meant that I'm asking on IRC.

I'd be just as much a source as they are, hence the first post, and I honestly try to avoid remaining in contact with them for too long, hence the second post. Basically, I want to avoid being your citation used, nor am I Notme, since they can say such. They're a reliable source. "Your word is law, I'll say what I see".
