Shere Khan belongs to two series:

• The Jungle Book
• Talespin

Assuming the rights to The Jungle Book belong to Disney alone, we should instead implicate shere_khan -> disney.

Then we'll be able to tag the series on a case-by-case basis.

Other suggestions:

• alias mowgli -> mowgli_(jungle_book)
• implicate mowgli_(jungle_book) -> jungle_book
• implicate bagheera_(jungle_book) -> jungle_book
• implicate baloo -> disney (also belongs to multiple series)
• possibly add a character suffix as well (_(disney))
• manually edit shanti -> shanti_(jungle_book)
• add new suffixes for different Shanti characters as needed
• implicate shanti_(jungle_book) -> jungle_book

The implication could technically work, but it is worth noting the Jungle Book is a novel in the public domain. However, for our purposes, we can do the implication because everyone will use the Disney designs.

Character-wise, yes, otherwise, no. So an implication wouldn't stand because Rebecca was created just for that show. For the sake of argument, since the characters are significantly changed role-wise, I would argue for the unimplication.

TaleSpin only had something like three characters from Jungle Book. Baloo, Louie, and Shere Khan (the latter only appeared in a few episodes).

The characters and setting were so different that I didn't actually notice the connection until years later.

Not strictly true. For instance, these are based on the Russian version of Jungle Book (The Adventures of Mowgli, and absolutely should not be tagged as Disney:

post #437401 is one example of non-Disney Shere Khan. And I can see some posts under Jungle Book that are based on the original, instead of the Disney version.

So -1 for the Disney implications, and +1 for unimplicating TaleSpin. The current Jungle Book -> Disney is also problematic; almost half of bagheera_(jungle_book) are not by Disney.

I suggest a creation of a jungle_book_(disney) tag, which could be implicated to disney and jungle_book. Jungle_book could be tagged for all adaptations, while keeping non-Disney ones from getting implicated to Disney. Robin_hood and robin_hood_(disney) are already tagged the same way.
