The Room is a cinematic masterpiece.

Fun fact:

this scene was filmed in a parking lot for absolutely no reason, hence the roof's layout making no sense. The black-haired dude, Tommy Wiseau, owned an entire building in San Francisco but spent absurd amounts of money taking the shots from the parking lot of the film studio he worked with just because he was lazy.

Favorite is probably Spirited Away.
Also like Airplane, Life of Brian, Holy Grail, Evil Dead, Star Wars, Aliens, The Thing (spoilers), and, well, various crappy movies. My life would not be complete without MST3K.

well, at the rate this torrent is going i probably won't be seeing phantasm V till tomorrow night. :/ but that happens. i'm certainly no stranger to waiting for things to finish.

as far as favorites go...i don't really have any particular ones (kinda how i am with video games and other stuff). still have that batman movie The Dark Knight (heath ledger did a GREAT joker.), it's pretty good. didn't care much for the sequel though.

i also still have the 2 part animated movie Batman: The dark knight returns which totals up to 2 and a half hours long and covers batmans return from retirement, facing down the mutant gang, 2 face, jokers return, then a big showdown between batman vs superman. that's a good amount of action crammed into a 2 and a half hour animated movie. :)

i also have this one movie one of my aunts got me (birthday present i think) called D-War it's a 2007 south korean movie. pretty good overall, especially all the special effects and cg stuff. don't think i've seen many korean movies before. certainly not as good as this one anyway.

think i'll put that download on pause for now and just watch something else tonight.

What I can recommend is the film "9".

Details

A scientist creates an AI that produces weapon for the military, but goes all Skynet. To save a part of humanity and life together this scientist creates little dolls.

Pretty disturbing (And I only consider 3 movies as such)

Another classic would be "The Boondock Saints" 1+2

Details

Two irish brothers put down criminals in the name of god. Hilarius, gory and crazy. Both movies are classics

"11:14 (Eleven-fourteen)" is another gem that's worth watching

Details

The movie shows different persons in different situations. It all plays around 11:14 pm. Each situation at this evening influences all others, but only at the end all puzzle parts make sense.

Sounds boring, but believe me, it's worth watching

When zombies are favourited "Collapse of the dead" is an underestimated movie

Details

A farmer whitnesses a zombie attack and has to defend his wife and himself. He goes to town to scavenge supplies, meets other survivors and has to stand the final attack.

Sounds like the generic B-movie like "[Insert something] of the dead", but the punchline is genius

And as the last mention:A John Carpenter classic. "They live"

Details

Unknown from most humans, aliens took over the world. The protagonist finds sunglasses that lets him see the true world. From this point he fights the invaders.

For gamers: This was also referenced in Saints Row IV. The mission with Keith David and Roddy Piper at the TV studio

That's my list for good, but not so well known movies.

My favorite movie ever since I first watched it is the fifth element I love that movie. I also like both parts of kill bill, gangs of new York, The thing, 9 ( I didn't know anyone else besides me saw that movie ) the warriors, Final fantasy advent children, The secret of NIMH, ed edd n eddys big picture show.
I don't know if it would still be any good but I used to like Pitch black when I was little same thing with final fantasy the spirits within if I ignored the fact it was supposed to be a final fantasy movie it was just a cool space movie.

I don't watch movies often, but my Top-20 would be something like this (not in order):
The City of Lost Children, The Blues Brothers, Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Shrek, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Kirikou and the Sorceress, Man of La Mancha (1972), Army of Darkness, The Happiness of the Katakuris, The Tune, The Secret of NIMH, Princes et princesses, Spirited Away, Pan's Labyrinth, Sin City, Waking Life, Bound, The Truman Show, Cube, The Shawshank Redemption, 12 Angry Men (1957), Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom, La Moustache, Kung Fu Hustle,...

Wait, that's more than twenty. I'm terrible at making Top-20 lists.

haven't seen Little Shop of Horrors in a long time but i do still have the original ending i downloaded off youtube at some point. the one where the plants go on to destroy the city and they do the "mean green mother" scene. that and a lot of other movies is something i should check out again some time. maybe it's on netflix or something (aunt and uncle might like to see it again too).

there was another one which hasn't been mentioned here yet too but i can't remember the name. i think it had the word guardian in the title but i'm not sure. anthropomorphic animals wielding various weapons representing different elements... my memory of older movies is terrible. :/

it wasn't animated, i know that much for sure.

i know kung fu hustle was a good one.

o_O "The City of Lost Children" well, that was an...interesting trailer.

Some of my faves:

-The Ten Commandments (1956)
-The Ten Commandments (1923)
-Ben-Hur (1959)
-Star Wars Episodes 1 through 7 and counting
-Indiana Jones 1, 3, and 4 (Yes, I actually do like Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I know that makes me a heretic, but it's a far better Indiana Jones flick than Temple of Doom ever could hope to be... all in my not-so-humble opinion, of course)
-Charlotte's Web (1974)
-LoTR and The Hobbit live action films by Peter Jackson
-Avengers movies starting with Iron Man
-Dune (1984)
-The Hurt Locker (2008)
-Titanic (1997)
-DragonHeart (1996)
-A Man Called Horse (1970)
-Treasure Island (1934 and 1950)
-Ghostbusters (1984)
-The War of the Worlds (1953)

I could probably keep listing movies until sometime next week, but these will have to do for now.

Hm. Well...

I really like most of Ghibli's movies. I don't think I've seen one of those that wasn't excellent, but my favorite was probably Princess Mononoke... That said! There are a few I haven't seen, such as Spirited Away, which I really ought to.

V for Vendetta is definitely one of my favorite movies as well.

An honorable mention to MST3K... If episodes of that still count as movies, then I'd have to say The Pumaman. Even on it's own merit it's hilariously goofy. Also, their episode of Santa Claus Conquers The Martians has become a Christmas tradition for me.

The Princess Bride is pretty excellent...

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, but, then, I don't frequently watch movies.

i just remembered a couple i still have. the 2 Vampire Hunter D (vampire hunter D and vampire hunter D bloodlust) movies. fairly old by now but still pretty good.

i also still have Return of the living dead which unfortunately was the first in a series that suffered that fate of each sequel being worse than the last. the 2nd movie was...ok but the last 2? ugh, no, get rid of that trash.

edit (a day later): well, i just finished phantasm V and all i can say is... what the HELL WAS THAT?!

5th and final installment... NO! that was NOT an ending. what the fuck? how the hell is THAT supposed to be the end of this series of movies?

spoiler alert: the big finale is a fucking cliffhanger!

Lots of giant spheres are then shown in the sky, indicating the war with The Tall Man is far from finished.

they didn't end ANYTHING! not only that but i think the quality dropped somewhat...overall

Of the ones I've seen more recently:

  • The Shawshank Redemption(1994) - This very rightfully earns the spot of highest rated film. Very well acted, well written, and you won't regret seeing it.
  • Witness for the Prosecution(1957) - Wonderfully paced, great story, characters are well developed. Don't expect any special effects or action scenes here.
  • House of Sand and Fog(2003) - This movie is extremely powerful, falls into the category of movies you should see, but will only ever want to watch once.
  • The Departed(2006) - Great acting, decent mix of action and story, enjoyable action/drama.
  • Sicario(2015) - Amazing camera work going on here, while it lacks a main character, this movie knows exactly how to build tension and keep you interested in what happens next.
  • The Conjuring(2013) - One of the few horror movies that I enjoyed where the movie took itself seriously. The director of photography for this film did one hell of a great job. Sound work is pretty spot on, and the build of tension and story telling just works. Mix of action and development scenes is well done for a horror movie. Skip the sequel if you though this one was super good, it doesn't seem to understand what made this one so great.
  • Deadpool(2016) - This is a campy, fourth wall breaking and self referential action film that manages to just work. Filled with crass humor and politically incorrect jokes. Not a super hero movie per-se.
  • Robot & Frank(2012) - An intriguing little movie. I really enjoyed the story of this one. Will make you think and feel. It doesn't really fit into a category either. I don't think this ever get a big release or reception, which is a shame.

I could probably produce a pretty large list if anyone was actually interested.

to be fair, deadpool is kinda like Marvel's version of pinkie pie. so the crazy antics, fourth wall breaking, and other nonsensical stuff is pretty much what he and pinkie pie do. that's pretty normal for them.

that and you gotta admit, it was pretty funny watching him mutilate himself while trying to beat up Colossus. lol then there the part when he makes colossus lose his lunch...

to expect sanity and normality from deadpool would be to expect the same of pinkie pie and that's just not right, is it?

you ever hear of that one movie, Atlantic Rim? yeah...syfy went there. and it was about as terrible as one would expect of syfy.

sleepy hollow is a good one. in fact, a lot of movies based on fairy tales tend to be pretty good. also good is how a good number of them tend to be dark horror stories since that's how many fairy tales started out. dark, grim, cautionary tales.

what was that one movie, The brothers grimm? that one showed a number of fairy tales and none of which were cheerful OR pleasant. a kid became the gingerbread man and took off...another becoming a mud creature iirc...horse trapping a child in spider webs and kidnapping him. fairy tales often have some rather unpleasant origins... they make for good movies though.

OO that reminds me. i should check out that one about Krampus some time. never seen a movie about that mythical figure before.

I'll be honest, I love syfy movies. They're like a bad comedy that you can't help but laugh at. I also highly recommended Krampus, a nice dark twist on the normal Holliday. Finally I forgot to mention this Korean movie called The Host, very awesome if you can find it.

seen it on syfy at some point before we stopped using dish network for tv (still using my aunts blu-ray player. :)). it was ok. don't really remember that much of it now though.

seems theres another movie by that name as well: The Host (2013)) sounds interesting.

edit (10 days later): i think i can safely say that what i just watched rivals some of the most fucked up videos (think it was from a documentary...a really old one) i have ever seen. not the freakiest mind you, japan still has that record, just fucked up.

o_O could THIS be where that so-called "ecosexual" term originated?

i kid you not, my face was post #330159 from start to finish. also...you uh...you may want to skip the part when theres 3 minutes left as it gets kinda...bloody. >.> yeah...i did not need to see that body part get cut off with a knife. don't think i'll watch this video again.

oh and for those into that kinda stuff. theres also this one scene where they put a, still living, snake inside a girls pussy. O.O damn,africa...even japan doesn't do that.

edit2: well, that was a pleasant surprise. aunt went and bought Labyrinth while in town today. good movie :)

I watched that again some time ago. The clock scene was very impressive, especially since it used no 3D rendering whatsoever.
CAD + drawing robot, then coloured manually.

Just to be weird, I kept a count of the number of panty shots in that movie. I counted 17.

If you want to be technical, its a reboot based on a 1973 movie of the same name.

Anyways, I pretty religiously watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and shows (besides Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD, though I did watch the recent Ghost Rider arc on AoS). Really looking forward to the new Guardians of the Galaxy. The first was one of the best Marvel movies to date, and James Gunn really seems like a guy whose passionate about his work.

Other movies I like include, but are not limited to: 300, The Boondock Saints, Black Hawk Down, Top Gun, Roadhouse, The Expendables movies, any given MST3K movie, Zootopia (because who doesn't love Zootopia), and Lord of the Rings, off the top of my head.

i find it rather interesting how they continue to keep all the movies and other stuff tied together when it comes to Marvel shows. they're always referencing movies and different shows which builds this whole backstory linking all the events together and forming something of a timeline throughout the marvel universe.

i think AoS takes place somewhere after the 1st or 2nd Avengers movie but it also links to asgard, the aliens seen in the 1st avengers (i don't remember their name), something called HIVE (haven't gotten that far in the show yet so i just know the name for the time being), among other things. and apparently ghost rider too? o.O not sure how that one fits in but it's marvel, they're all over the place.

oh and theres the whole Hydra and red skull stuff of course.

hmmm... i wonder if theres any series ior movies where Marvel meets DC in some way. wouldn't be too surprising if there is.

The connection between all the properties is a huge part of Marvel's appeal. I love how everything since The Avengers has been slowly feeding into Infinity War. There's a meme about getting all giddy when somebody says something that'll be relevant 6 movies down the line (like in The Winter Soldier, where Dr. Strange was name-dropped before his movie was announced). I recently read the Infinity Gauntlet comics, so I'm -super- stoked to see how that turns out.

Agents of SHIELD runs parallel to the movies after the Avengers, but its generally considered one of Marvel's weakest properties. The writing and acting is pretty cheesy, the story arcs are helter-skelter, and it tries way too hard to force the movies to acknowledge its existence. Hydra was turned from super-nazis to an Inhuman-worshipping cult. It says there's this epidemic of Inhumans in the world, which is never mentioned in the movies. So on and so forth. The Ghost Rider arc was meant to have some loose ties to Dr. Strange, plus pull in viewers with a darker, more violent arc to match the later time slot for the new season. Admittedly, I really didn't like anything without Ghost Rider, and dropped it again at the end of his arc. Given Ghost Rider's reception, its possible he'll get his own series. Presumably, it'd be on Netflix, which is where Marvel has their darker properties. Apparently there's even rumors of him teaming up with the Punisher, which I think would be awesome.

Marvel and DC have crossed over in their comics before multiple times. I think there was one where Darkseid and totally not Darkseid Thanos clashed, and the Justice League and the Avengers/X-Men had to stop them before their fight destroyed the universe. Plus there was a Punisher/Batman crossover. But I doubt its something we'd see in the live-action films. These movies run a high budget already, and both studios enlist a lot of A-list actors. Plus the bigger movies already run into the same problems- both Batman vs Superman and Age of Ultron (plus Civil War, to a lesser extent) were criticized for being -too- big, with many characters and plot elements getting little focus and spending too much time setting up future films. A DC/Marvel crossover movie would run up an uncoupable budget and still be 4 hours long. Plus movie fans tend to get pretty bitter about their rivals, especially with DC's more... mixed reception.

And its the Chitauri you're thinking of, from the Avengers.

Infinity Wars? o.O would i be correct in assuming that has to do with the Infinity Stones? i've only seen one of those in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and that 1 those stone had unbelievable power (seeing how strong that 1 stone was, it's easy to believe that a planet would go *poof* if it ever touched the ground.). 6 people channeling that power together and they could still just BARELY withstand the sheer force of the energy it put out. even just 1 of those stones is an extreme threat in ANYONE'S hands, good or evil. but all of them together...praying for a good outcome of such a catastrophic event would be a good starting point. they're supposed to be the scattered pieces of the (or was it 2?) god that formed the universe aren't they? i don't remember exactly.

Darkseid vs Thanos sounds like an interesting fight. like 2 gods or god-like beings fighting. too bad i rarely ever read comic books. :/ i can guess at one reason a fight would start between those 2. -_- darkseid getting one of the infinity stones and refusing to give it to thanos. that or the infinity gauntlet.

saw batman vs superman in the 2 part, Dark Knight Returns, animated batman movie a while back. pretty good movie overall.

"And its the Chitauri you're thinking of, from the Avengers."

right...i still need to download and watch that and the 2nd avengers movies some time.

hmmm...i wonder how that tesseract (tesserac?) tech would stand up to the infinity artifacts. then again, it'd probably go up in dust like everything else that comes into contact with the power of infinity. speaking of, i wonder where that cube flung the red skull in the captain america movie. looked like it opened a portal to somewhere in space iirc. well, i'm sure he'll come back eventually. it's unlikely a villain like the red skull would be taken out that easily.

The Infinity Wars will presumably be based on the Infinity Gauntlet comics, in which Thanos acquires all 6 Infinity Stones and uses them to kill half the population of the universe to win the affections of Mistress Death. Its been the overarching plot for all the Marvel films- Thanos playing a cosmic game of chess to bring all the Infinity Stones to him. Currently, 5 of the 6 Infinity Stones have been unveiled. The Tesseract is actually an Infinity Stone, the Space Stone to be precise. Only the Power Stone, from GotG, is capable of wiping out a planet easily- the others have their own powers. The six are Space, Reality, Power, Mind, Time, and Soul. 5 of the 6 have been unveiled, with plenty of speculation where the 6th is, but since you haven't seen Age of Ultron yet, I'll put them under spoilers:

-Space Stone: Contained in the Tesseract, from Captain America and the Avengers. Able to create wormholes in space and provide/harness energy from other places in the universe. Currently secured on Asgard, and was used to rebuild the Byfrost after it was destroyed in the end of Thor.

-Reality Stone: The Aether, in Thor: The Dark World. Was claimed by Asgard, and given to the Collector for safekeeping, as "it would be unwise to keep 2 Infinity Stones so close together." Can be used to manipulate reality. His collection was destroyed in Guardians of the Galaxy, but presumably the Aether is still secure.

-Power Stone: Seen in Guardians of the Galaxy. Destroys organic matter, but can also give immense strength to beings powerful enough to bear it. Was secured by the Nova Corps on Xandar.

-Mind Stone: Technically revealed in The Avengers, but not confirmed until Age of Ultron. It was the power source for Loki's scepter. Ultron used it to power a new body for himself, but it was taken by the Avengers and turned into Vision, who now possesses the Mind Stone. Was used for mind control, AI creation (Ultron), enhancement of people (Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision). Vision also uses it to fire laser beams.

-Time Stone: In Kamar Taj, a mystic sanctuary in Dr. Strange. Contained in the Eye of Agamotto, which Strange usually wears around his neck. Used to control, reverse, and stop time.

-Soul Stone: As yet unrevealed. Presumably in possession of Heimdall- his ability is to "see trillions of souls" in the entire universe, there's a conspicuous gold gem in his armor's chest plate, his eyes glow gold, and in Thor's vision in Age of Ultron revealing that someone is after the Infinity Stones, and Heimdal was shown as blind- ie, someone took the Soul Stone from him. Will likely be unveiled in Thor: Ragnarok, even if not in Heimdall's possession.

There's also a theory that the artifacts which hold the Infinity Stones spell THANOS: Tesseract, Heimdall, Aether, Necklace (Eye of Agamotto), Orb, Scepter. But its probably reaching.

Darkseid vs Thanos is basically a stalemate. The two are just so ridiculously powerful that nobody can really say who'd win. I think I misrembered the Avengers/JLA crossover. Funny that you mention Darkseid getting the Infinity Gauntlet, because...

Avengers: Infinity War...looks like i'll have another interesting movie to look forward to...next year. :/

regarding the soul stone. sounds possible but we'll have to wait and see to be sure.

"There's also a theory that the artifacts which hold the Infinity Stones spell THANOS: Tesseract, Heimdall, Aether, Necklace (Eye of Agamotto), Orb, Scepter. But its probably reaching."

interesting but...this could merely be a coincidence too. then again, it wouldn't be the first time something in a big franchise wound up being vaguely prophetic about what will happen in the future.

lol now that's funny. you get an item of such great power and it turns out to be a dud (at least in that one reality). i imagine it bothered him more that he had been wasting his time than it not working for him though.

Obviously everyone knows Toy Story but has anyone ever seen the forgotten Robin Williams masterpiece Toys?

Easily one of the most surreal films I've ever seen, great Hans Zimmer soundtrack too

just watched the original Might Morphin Power Rangers movie with Ivan Ooze and... lol @ those CGI effects.

man...those wouldn't even make it onto a tv series nowadays.

that lens flare when ivan gets hit by the comet. i haven't seen graphics that bad since maybe...the first star craft game or older games?

the 3d models for ivan's giant robots weren't too bad but the reflectiveness was horrible. i would rate them anywhere from bad to..."close your eyes you abomination!" bad on that aspect but the shapes and movements were pretty good.

still, it could be worse. it could be as bad as syfy special effects. and i know, i bash syfy movies a lot (a LOT) but how can you blame me when their movies really are THAT bad?

i think this list speaks for itself on syfy's record for bad movies. well, ok, they did do SOME good ones but those are typically few and far between.

2 Lava... 2 Lantula... lol wtf?

A month later, and I can't believe I forgot to mention Mad Max: Fury Road. Such an awesome, unbelievably badass movie.

I also finally got a chance to watch Kingsman: the Secret Service today, and that was a pretty great movie as well.

My favorite movie of all time would have to be Cloverfield hands down. I might never see the movie the same way again and only recommend watching it in theaters but man is it a great experience. Have yet to watch another movie like it that gave me the same feeling.

My favorite genres are Animation, Super Hero movies and Parody Comedies. Come to think of it many of the movies I like seem to be hated for the most part like Spider-Man 3 is my favorite comic book movie and parody movies like Scary Movie, the Comebacks and Dance Flick people say are bad. I laugh my ass off in parody movies and recently Scary Movie 5 didn't disappoint.

As for the Marvel Cinematic Universe for me Guardians of the Galaxy is the best so far. Civil Was disappointing with not enough action and stuff happening.

Power Rangers movie (2017)

o.O could it be? after all these years, something actually worth watching from the power rangers franchise?

mmm... i would say maybe. it looks great, sure, but who's to say it's not going to be just another 1-shot wonder fight when it comes to the megazord fight? that's why i stopped watching the main series long ago. the fights all became really really...bad. special effects alone can't cover up crappy fighting and a 1-shot fight is boring and stupid when it comes to giant robot fights.

well, won't know till after the release date for sure. which probably isn't too far off since the trailer has been on tv lately.

edit: apologies in advance for anyone who scrolls down to the comments on that video.

i didn't know youtube had such blatant and widespread piracy advertising accounts. i'll have to be more careful where i grab links to movie trailers from now on.

then again, that IS the Lionsgate Movies channel so i guess responsibility partly falls on them.

One of the weirder movies I've watched recently is called Antiviral. It's a dystopia where celebrities are idolized for their diseases and people buy viruses (legal and black market) to inject themselves with. It's both implausible and wonderfully fucked up.

Celebrities are fairly good at convincing people to buy things they don't need.

Alot of movies I would of mentioned have already been listed but not all of them.

Jackie Brown
The Dear Hunter
Apocalypse Now

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Shane( The book was much better)
Chopper
Taxi Driver

I rarely see any new movies I like but The Martain was ok.

Saw Castaway for the first time last week. Loved it.

Deadpool. It was also my introduction to the franchise. I was going to design my SR4 character after him.

My favorite movie is:

The secret world of arrietty

I would HIGHLY recommend it

Just watched Fight Club earlier. Been wanting to read the book as well but my local stores didn't have it in stock

Saw Logan and Beauty and the Beast on Sunday. Expected to cry on one of them.

Didn't think I would at both.

A couple of newer ones for me:

1. Rogue One - A Star Wars Story
2. X-Men: Days of Future Past - The Rogue Edition

saw Independence Day: Resurgence the other day and it's pretty good.

well, the people got their female president in this movie and...shes the type to shoot first ask questions later. yeah, sorry about that, soon to be ally. our new president seems to have a case of "itchy trigger finger". oops same for most of her advisory council. >.> (geez, people... heres hoping you learn how to identify friends from foes BEFORE testing your shiny new toy on whoever happens to cross your path first in the 3rd movie.)

still, overall it was pretty well done. it picks up 20 years after the 1st movie and shows how the battle against the aliens is now escalating (can you get much bigger than a 1k mile in diameter mother ship?) and without spoiling anything the ending looks like there might be a 3rd movie in the future. anyone up for a intergalactic war against the aliens?

good movie overall.

Wizards 1977 - Full

this popped up in my "up next" side bar. figured i'd take a look and so far it's not bad. totally unlike any movie you'd see nowadays.

this movie seems to rely on a combination of short animated scenes and still images with narration. i don't know if i've ever seen that kind of movie before this.

edit: nazis... lol ok...

24:30 scratch that. looks like it was just a video recording used to shock enemy. that's all.

hmmm... got some other interesting sounding movies in the side bar now. think i'll copy some of those titles for later.

My appreciation for film has been increasing over the years. I've grown a fondness for the Coen Brothers, Ridley Scott, Hayao Miyazaki, Steven Spielberg, and Stanley Kubrick. My discovery of the Criterion Collection was also a mind-opener, exposing me to Akira Kurosawa, Wim Wenders, Ingmar Bergman, and David Lynch.

Saw I, Daniel Blake, "[w]inner of the Palme d'Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, the latest from legendary director Ken Loach..." It was fine. I had no complaints. It's a window into poverty before homelessness.

Actual spoilers: When I asked myself why he had to die as opposed to a different story being told, I arrived at the conclusion that "he died so that maybe a real person in his situation wouldn't have to", like a fictional martyr for the non-fiction world.

Over the last few months, the most entertaining movies I've seen--and I try to catch all new movies available in local theaters that are worth a damn after filtering for premises of interest--were Their Finest and, somewhat surprisingly, Kong: Skull Island.

I've seen the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies around 60 times combined on DVD, in a previous chapter of my life, so I was very conflicted over if I should see Pirates 5 after the wreckage that was #4. The consensus is that "it's better than the last one", but that's a really low bar. After digging a little deeper, I decided on a hard pass. I don't want to encourage this kind of sequel swill. I'm of a similar opinion on the next Star Wars movie, an outlook I'll have difficulty reversing closer to release since apparently I can't trust critic or audience consensus there.

For anime, I did actually see Your Name. in theater with English dub, something I didn't think would happen at all. I give it a 6/10, or "Fine" on MAL, which is how I've decided to rate shows over there (i.e., 5 - Average, 6 - Fine, 7 - Good, 8 - Very Good, 9 - Great, 10 - Masterpiece). Decent, but I found too many scenes easily predictable once I had an inkling of what they were about (that means I thought it was formulaic). I also watched The Garden of Sinners movie series (a.k.a. Kara no Kyoukai) most recently. I thought the third movie was the best, worth an 8, and the others ranged from 6 to 7. The series was held back by its cryptic jargon, which probably resulted from a combination of concepts too difficult for fan translators and poor scripting.

Wonder Woman seems to have reviewed very well. Seems like it comes out on June 2... and today is June 2. Other circumstances may be conspiring for us to see it today or soon.

Edit:

Anyone else saw the new alien movie? It was alright

A friend of mine is a big Alien fan. He hated Prometheus for lore reasons but enjoyed Alien: Covenant quite a bit ("Alien: Cuntenant gets a 9/10 from me. :D"). Having seen Life too recently and being utterly disgusted with it, my horror movie quota was still too full to a find a fuck to give for another horror movie so soon.

10 Things You Didn't Know About Pennywise

yeah...maybe i didn't need sleep tonight after all.

saw this movie when i was younger and it has forever left me...with a phobia towards clowns. i can stand it enough to watch a video like this but *sigh* suffice it to say, my phobia regarding being afraid of the dark pales in comparison to this one.

if just seeing the image of pennywise in his more tame clown form is enough to have me shaking slightly... i'd really rather avoid being near any clown if at all possible.

IT is not a movie i would ever want to let kids see. just thinking about it... *shudder*
