Riot Games made League of Legends
Updated by skunk in scarf
Considering there are literally no other posts besides League of Legends populating the riot_games tag, it seems redundant to me. Why would we need a copyright tag for something which only has one series to it?
If anything we ought to alias riot_games to league_of_legends and trash the tag.

Riot is currently working on new games actually so we don't know if that's gonna stay true for long

Who even searches for "Riot Games"?

Yeah, I could see searching up a game company, but only if it's something like Nintendo. Not for one with only a single game or spinoffs of that game.

For now probably nobody

I agree with the OP, because while it might be redundant now, I would keep it the same for future-proofing. We may never know if this "Riot Games" company will release new games that artists might make art for it.
...heheh, future-proofing. Is that even a word?

For now, I say alias riot_games to league_of_legends. It's an easy enough task to remove the alias and create an implication if necessary, but I don't see Riot Games being a popular enough copyright to warrant its own tag: Unlike nintendo, people will recognize things as being from League of Legend, not Riot Games.

if its actually needed in future, alias can be easily changed to implication. so keeping currently unnecessary tag like this around just in case is not needed.

Ew. No. Why would we create a problem for our future selves when we don't have to? We lose practically nothing by having a riot_games tag, even if it's unnecessary for now. +1 to the proposed implication.

You do know that the tag only applies to LoL right now, right? Thus, an alias made would have no effect since it is already tagged LoL... And then the alias can be changed to an implication without changing any other tag at all because it is only tagged for LoL things, and instead will change so all posts with LoL will now be tagged LoL and Riot_Games afterwards.
From me, +1 for the alias. Simpler than waiting and saves a tag when people assume they only need to tag riot_games.

When Riot releases a new game, people will upload posts for that new game and tag them riot_games. If that's aliased to league_of_legends, those new posts will be incorrectly tagged. Eventually, someone will point it out on the forum, and eventually, the mods will get around to undoing the alias. By that time, though, we could have a bunch of mistagged posts, and we would have to manually comb through league_of_legends to fix them.

How fast do you think the game name & details will be posted on the forum, vs when artwork of the game is posted on site. We're already talking about the game, and nobody has a clue as to what it'll look like...

If somebody tags league_of_legends on something that clearly isn't league_of_legends then it'll be obvious and easily enough removed. I don't see what the problem is.
I also believe we shouldn't have a Riot Games tag in the first place. Thing about the other copyrights, Nintendo, Sony, Sega, they're the console companies. People recognize things for the console they're on. There's nothing memorable about the "Style" or "Theme" behind Riot Games to warrant keeping it as a tag.
