Topic: Pff, sorry, but what's so wrong with this? And what's the standing of this?

Posted under Art Talk

Umm, okay. Yes, I know, "ask the person who deleted this.". Well, I did, but it's been more than two weeks and she didn't answer me. As I've said, doing this is like pulling teeth, for both the writer and the viewer.
Now, I really don't get how my art doesn't meet quality standards. I don't understand how any of my 30-minute sketches will always get approved, but most drawings that take me from hours to months will almost always get denied.
Again, I recognize I'm not a professional artist, but I still legitimately want to know;
What is so fundamentally wrong with things like these??

And since I apparently have to ask about every little thing, what's the standing of these.. Since that person, again, didn't answer me.

I'm seeing a lot with the colors. You should probably look at the palettes others use. It's not because they are popular. It's because certain color schemes are easier on the eyes. Check out Paletton and play with the choices a little. You'll pick up on certain patterns. You should also look at the general mood certain schemes give. The same color does something entirely different when used in a different scheme.

Also, you should try practicing shading. I have no advice on this, as whatever you know about it, I can promise I know less.

Ratte has previously explained to you the issues with your art. Those points are all still valid and thus there is little need to repeat them yet again.

On the other hand, there's this incredibly annoying thing that your brain starts to take shortcuts once you are doing something for a longer time. When you're looking at a text or drawing for a longer time you start missing more and more mistakes that may have been made.
A famous is example is wonky anatomy, every artist I've spoken with says that they have trouble discerning anatomy errors the longer they work on something. To combat this most resort to flipping the canvas from time to time, in order to double check if it still looks good flipped.
Obviously this doesn't work with traditional art, but it's something to keep in mind at least. Take longer breaks between steps and have a look later to see if it still looks good to you.

So that's why I see people flipping the image around all the time.

Well, since she doesn't respond in ANY regard, it just seemed like I'm being ignored. And if she said she'd redline drawings before I submitted them if I asked, I'd think she would, but oh well.

Yeah, I tried that flipping thing as of lately, and I don't see a problem, but seeing that I still can't see a problem, I just won't bother. Taking long breaks between steps makes my art worse because I'm gotten out of the groove so to speak, losing the level of focus I have when I work continuously.
..I'll just need to find someone who can address things in a concise, non-generalized manner.
Thanks anyway.

You don't like what I have to say anyway? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I stopped bothering and just put you up for normal approval like everyone else. I'm also not the one who deleted the most recent post. I don't even remember seeing it in the first place.

uh...oops... not yet approved. my bad, sorry!

well, i wasn't wrong about Duck Hunt Dog's pics linked above (aside from this one) looking fine. there's not any wavy or uneven lines from what i can tell aside from where they need to be (like cloud patterns, hair, and tree leaves) and the colors all look fine too.

there's much lower quality things that get approved here sometimes.

Poor quality art. Also not the type of thing I'd expect people to come here for; hardly seems relevant to me.

Also, not so subtle passive aggression on the "pssssh"'s and "that person"s. I'd guess the approach-ability issue isn't on the staff side.
