Topic: [Feature] pools be given the tags of all the images in them

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
All pools are given a list of tags generated by all the images in the pool. This way people can search for pools based on their tags instead of by title.
Why would it be useful?
Searching for comics can be a pain in the gallery as you get multiple results for each comic. And search by pool is no better. Unless you know what comic you want there is no point in searching in that fashion.
What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Pools would be slightly more like image as in they can be searched by tag. You'd still have the option of searching by title.

Well with pools how they are now if you wanted all the gay comics and you search by pool all you will get is the comics with "gay" in the title. I also thought of a quick fix would be adding the tag first_page or title_page to the first page in a pool that way you can just get the first page of each comic. Problem is this will only help you find all the comics. If say you have something blacklisted and it doesn't feature on the first page then you're gonna end up seeing it if you open that comic.

With tagged pools we'd be able to easily find any comic on the site to suit our interests.

Well this sunk. Really was hoping for a serious discussion on this as it would benefit literally everyone on this site that reads the comics.

Well, alternatively you (not literal) could use cover_page, which usually has the gist of the comic, or just comic with the tags to find comics you want. But that's not me saying this is a bad idea.

Some people who would otherwise look at feature suggestions may be ignoring this one due to the lack of the string [Feature] in the title.

I don't do forums so not exactly familiar with the more nuance practices.

The other option is that this feature has been discussed in this forum multiple times already and there isn't anything new to add or say at all.

The TL;DR of what I remember is that we'd like to have something like this, but the software doesn't support it, and creating support for it would be terrible to do. Other suggested things also included that the cover page gets all tags from all pool pages or that an entire pool gets blacklisted when at least one page is blacklisted.

Pool blacklists are definitely not such a good idea unless optional. I've got "rating:e female" blacklisted so I'd end up missing any explicit content that happened to have a female character at any point. Then again the feature for showing hidden content easily circumvent that issue.

Though giving the title page of comics all the tags of the entire comic sounds like a good idea. Then use my idea of labeling all the title pages as "title_page" or "first_page" and it is near 100% functionally the same as tagged pools.

This really could work. But it flies in the face of some of e621's tagging protocol. But exceptions have been made in the past for the betterment of the site.

Has someone already suggested using tags that appear in a certain percentage of the pool's posts instead? for example: if the pools has X posts these tags would need to be present in at least Y posts (X > Y > 0).
This could be complemented by a system that gives priority to tags that represent relatively commom preferences/sexual fetishes which many people would want to see or avoid, as well tags referent to artwork an language (e.g. female/female, gore, incest, comic, cub, monochrome, rating:safe, english_text, bondage, size_difference etc).

Or it could be done with two different categories of tags like 'focus' vs 'incidental' or 'major' vs 'minor' so someone could block female/female in the major tags but it'd allow images where the female/female incident is in the background. But this seems like it would get very complicated very fast, could be a pain to tag, and there's enough grey area to start even more tagging arguments.
