Topic: Tag Implication: joltik -> spider

Until checking the lore of it, I couldn't even tell it was based on spiders. The appearance of it isn't something absolutely everyone can look at and go "oh, that's a spider".

And just looking at the wiki I found this:

With the suggested implication, that would imply spider as well. Obviously that would be an error on that picture. One of the reasons it's generally a bad idea to do species implications is for cases just like that, since people can draw what would normally be one species as a different one, especially since this is a site based around anthropomorphic art, where species alterations and the existence traits not normally found in a certain species are far more common.

-1. Reasons bellow.

I) Actually, joltik is based on a tick, its evolution is based on a spider (a tarantula to be more specific).

II) Currently we don't imply pokémon species to any species tag, except 'ultra_beast' (pending) and 'legendary_pokémon'.

This may happen to many, many species (specially the fictional ones). If an humanoid has two sets of ears and four horns, so it could be an humanoidized charr; but if it has red skin with white spots and two or three mushrooms growing over its back, so it could be an humanoidized mooshroom. The oringinal creatures are based (respectively) on felines and bovines, but their humanoidized versions may have no trait resembling these.

The wiki entry says that it's a spider. :/
Need to get around to cleaning those. ...someday.

None pokémon based on a spider has eight legs, this even became some kind of joke; additionally most pokémon based on adult insects haven't six legs/arms, and some based on mammals haven't four limbs (e.g. azurill).

I thought the defining trait of mammals was that they nursed their young. I mean, mammal, mammaries...

True, but mammals are tetrapods (tetra = four, pode = leg/foot) and all non-larval tetrapods (excluding snakes, caecilians, limbless lizards, sirens and amphisbaenians) have four limbs.

I'm not about to set a precedent of implicating pokemon to real species. Denied
