well, the super_gay Wiki page has some good criteria. but it was edited once in 2011 by SnowWolf and never again, meaning it could be something grandfathered in.

if it isn't too subjective, how can we make the tag fulfill its purpose of being super gay? it appears to be hijacked by things that aren't particularly gay, and in fact has some straight things in there.

I assume this was a way to get around the gay -> male/male alias. It should be nuked and then aliased to male/male.

It is a bit subjective but still a valid tag. One of the technicality of it is that the peeps them self don't 'have' to be gay to be tagged "Super gay" just would have to be doing something that would be 'seen' as gay to a comical sense. That or slap enough rainbows on something that peeps start saying Yeah, I get it

I don't think that's the reason. I think it's for images with gay stereotypes (rainbows, dicks, girlyness, etc.) and taken to another level. Like the images above this comment.

Pretty much this, homosexual iconography taken to a ridiculously cartoonish degree.

i wouldn't mind per se if the tag was invalidated, because it seems to me these subjective tags are based on criteria that can never be fully satisifed, as opposed to something objective and useful for searches.

Super gay is one of our resident joke tags (if I find any of those tags being wiped out without admin consent there will be no respite from my fury) and is used for things that are, well, super gay in a comical, satirical or overbearing way.

Notkastar is right on the money as well, it has the flaming part turned up to 11 and then some.

alright, we might as well refine the criteria a bit, as i go through and clean up the tag.

i never was a fan of the "shitting rainbows" definition, as it's not too gay in itself. some of the pictures are not super gay and are a regular sort of gay, which are easy to handle. i have to ask if we should be more lenient or less with what to put under the super_gay tag.

The definition is good as it is, including the shitting rainbows stereotype. Past that, err on the side of leniency with joke tags, they aren't meant to be taken 100% serious anyway.

i believe i have done my part in curating this tag and suggest someone else may curate it, too.

There's no lesbian equivalent to this, is there?
