Because I've been doing that on and off thinking e6 is more for archiving purposes rather than sharing or "advertising" art, and the real-big artists who's work gets posted here is almost never by themselves.

its not weird or a taboo as far as i know. i mean i have been posting my art here since 2010

People have used this site only to host their art sometimes.

A lot of people do it. If anything, users actually like it when artists upload their own content. I personally don't upload my stuff here but it still ends up here anyway.

I upload my own art, and for the most part people have been pretty good about it. I mean, yeah, there are some folks who get all self-righteous and uppity on me for posting my own art, but those people are few and far between, and they also tend to be the types who deliberately refuse to blacklist artwork they don't like just so they can cause drama, and the admins/mods tend to deal with those troublemakers pretty quickly.

Its not really taboo whatsoever. In fact, you're actually doing a good thing for this assuming the content you post is decent. However, it is not particularly recommended to put your art here exclusively as this site, like you said, is more of an image archive than a site like furaffinity, inkbunny and deviantart.

............why would it be????

Nah. A lot of artists don't want to have to deal with seeing the negativity that sometimes sprouts up, so they have others post their stuff here, while others want to be able to read every comment their work gets, and upload it themselves. The latter is part of why I made a suggestion that we be able to search comments based on the tags (with the intention of using the artist tags): forum #210834

No, not at all. I do it. And it's a good way for any artist to get noticed honestly.
You just need to have enough skill and a basic understanding of anatomy, as well as knowing what should be uploaded here to begin with.

...it's not weird unless you make it weird, but posting bad art is considered a taboo.

Nobody uploads my work so I usually do it myself. Nobody's bitched at me for this over the last year or so.

As long as the art isn't ms paint quality and you have some source where users can follow you more easily, it's actually really great thing.
I guess the "weird" and "taboo" you think of can come from that the site still isn't personal art gallery. Because of this even if you are artist of images, posts are handled like they would've been posted by any other user and you don't have any more control over them from any other user at least directly. As long as you aknowledge this, there shouldn't be much issues.
I have seen so many artists and commissioners not getting how the site operats and doing dumb things because of this, latest one being commissioner yelling other user that they stole their commissioned work because that user uploaded it instead of commissioner.

Nah.

It's actually really cool and ideal when you do.

This site is actually where I first started posting my art to the internet.

Just PLEASE tag yourself as the artist...like you said people upload mostly other people's art...so we don't know who the hell drew it if you just throw something on the site with no artist tag. That's a rookie mistake I see people who upload their own art do a lot.

Yeah. Make it one, consistent tag, and if you name a character after yourself, give them the _(character) suffix.
If you find somebody's changing your tags, look to see if they added a revision reason. I've seen an artist who uploaded their own stuff that had a few incorrect tags, and filled out the reason field as I edited them. If they don't leave a reason, send them a message and ask about it.

I do know that most of the people here upload others' work, and also that some artists like to share their own too, but I do wonder if there are hybrids : People that upload both others' and own artwork. From my own experience, I didn't see anyone that does both beside myself, even though 99% of what I upload is still from others' rather than my own

Some thinks it's weird. Ignore it.

Before I was DNP I was pretty much the one that posted all of my work here, nobody else did aside from one person with one pic, but otherwise I posted the other 99.9% of my work.
It's not weird or 'taboo' at all. You're fine.

Out of curiosity, why did you decide to go DNP?

I explained it here if ya don't mind reading, or the slight necro. In a nutshell, just didn't feel comfortable having my art here anymore for some minor personal reasons.
