Requested feature
How about we add a few (basic) emojis (you type ":)" and get the appropriate emoji when you post the comment)? Or a special tab so you can select one?

Why is it useful?
It would give style!

Infected areas
Everywhere where one can use Dtext.

-1, for a couple reasons:

I can only dread the amount of spam that'd occur, from cryptic smileys to forced amounts that far exceed what is necessary.

I am also lead to believe that not everything supports emoticons and/or emojis, and in its simplicity words can convey more than a face or thumbs pointing. Hell, just a ^ in response to someone provides as much as some more complex emoticons.

In all, I'd rather a list of symbols that the site converts, like how a hyphen and a greater than sign together makes -> .

I can display :) just fine while ๐Ÿ˜Š is a box with 01F60A in it.

The closest thing to emoji that work for generally everyone here from what I can tell are unicode symbols. Some tags in fact utilize unicode symbols as the tag themselves or aliases (card symbols, like the spade, for example)

Absolutely not. If you need them, use emoji. Adding them to the site will just cause unneeded cringe to the comment section.
