Aliasing platemail → plate_armor
Link to alias

Reason:

Refers to the same thing. Platemail is not actually "mail".

  • I recently checked the Wikipedia page on barding and discovered that each part of it is named. Should I create tags and wiki pages for each named part? And should we change the barding -> armor alias to an implication?

EDIT: The tag alias platemail -> plate_armor (forum #233252) has been rejected by @NotMeNotYou.

I wanna say -1, because platemail consists of both mail and plate armor, but not everyone is an enthusiast and confuses the three kinds of plate armor together.

Maybe an implication to both plate and mail armors, with full plate & half plate belonging only to plate armor. Alternatively, we could be not strict on it, do the alias, and allow the tagging of alternate types of armor like scale or mail with it; they are not exclusive, after all.

In practice, I see platemail used to refer to plate armor with or without (visible) mail accompaniment.

While that is not strictly accurate, there may be a justification in that it's how an average user will employ the term while browsing.

That's why I said the "... not everyone is an enthusiast..." and "Alternatively...", I recognize their justifications.
