What if a Chthon is not drawn to look like a monster? Not unimaginable, given that species can be altered non-dramatically to look different (usually by adding or removing details).

Your current argument is TWYK, and monster's wiki specifies "Add this tag only if the creature's appearance is at least somewhat monstrous. For example, most Undertale characters do not belong under this tag, despite being called 'monsters' in the game."

o_O is that in any way related to the Chthonian) species of the cthulhu mythos?

looks like it kinda fits the description aside from the squid and slime aspects. though that could just be artist preference. artistic freedom and all that fun stuff.

that thing having a mouth and nose but no eyes is kinda creepy.

gotcha, my apologies. kinda new here, didn't realize monster referred to monstrous and not just literal monster species. will keep in mind

Well, a good suggestion is to read the wiki as there are some tags that read differently than what they mean.
