Topic: Tag Alias: cream_scales -> tan_scales

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Seems both tags have a lot of unneeded variation in them. "Tan/Cream" scales more close to white, orange or red than than those tones. Don't see how it could hurt to alias these two.

I say alias to beige_scales instead. Tan is for darker tones, Beige and Cream for lighter.

considering beige is already aliased to tan under fur, this would be a a kinda mot point and inconsistent if the scales equivalent is not aliased away.

That one should be unaliased. Most of them aren't aliased away like that, and Beige is described as a "Pale brown" while tan is a "Dark brown" according to my sources.

thing is tan is also used alot for extremely pale brown tints and really all the pale brown name tags are used interchangeably so it would make more sence collecting them all under the more known name.

I do appreciate the idea of keeping at least beige and tan separate, but I have not seen many signs of people inherently knowing the difference, i.e. they think they know and then posts gets one of the tags seemingly at random.

So we aren't going to try and separate beige and tan?

The color ranges overlap, and therefore they can never be consistently tagged. Doesn't help that the users have their monitor settings all over the place.

Last I heard, we were planning to remove those altogether and just use yellow, brown etc instead. Though that might've changed since then.

Color standardization isn't a project I'm prioritizing. A different thread, a different time.

Right now I'm chipping away at unapproved aliases/implications.
