Topic: Films/Shows/Games you like to be remastered

Posted under Off Topic

Movies to Shows, Cartoons, and etc etc.
That you want to be remastered,
and more then just a face lift and up-scaled,
but replaced, improved, and redrawn.

Mostly kinda like the Star Wars special edition make over,
but with out the awfulness add-in changes.

Or how Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary done it

Example

I would like to see Toys Story 1 and 2 being remastered.
But replacing everything with modern 3D models, textures.
The voice and music and 3d animation would be 100% the same,
not if the 3d animation need some tweaking
because it could be out dated too.
---
Beast Wars: Transformers and ReBoot
Well at least the first seasons
or at least top 5-10 favorite episodes.
---
Disney's Robin Hood
I would like to see this one remastered redrawn but with a bigger budget,
Like Disney Lion King, Aladdin quality drawn
or at least Disney's Gargoyles high budget episodes drawn.
---
The Mummy Returns
Well I don't really want this to be remastered... but "The Rock" as
the Scorpion King creature... that cgi effect really need a big make over.

Updated

Films: the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; my favorite in not-good films.

Shows: none, but I would keelhaul anyone who dares to redo The Three Stooges... never again, after that last film. Maybe they could try the Robonic Stooges.

Games: Age of Mythology & expansion. Best RTS IMO, despite playing Civ 5 recently and enjoying it.

Some video games just off the top of my head include Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Super Mario 64 (1996), Pokémon Snap (1999), and Sonic Adventure (1998). Most of them just need updated graphics and tweaked mechanics, but Sonic '06 would need a complete overhaul.

As for shows and movies, I don't have any preferences when it comes to remakes.

I won't mind a Sonic 06 remastered but that April fool joke
could be a sign they won't do it.
I never played Sonic 06 but I wanted to until
I heard of all the horror stories how buggy and
how long of the 2-4 short scenes the loading times are.

I would like to see the 2002 Elder Scrolls Morrowind be remastered,
and Jade Empire and Time Splinters 1 to 3 as well.

and for other films... Terminator 1, Alien 1 and Jaws 1,
but being done right, not how the
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - Anniversary Edition done it.

Oh I would like films that comes with both versions
original and remastered.

and the Star Wars Holiday Special, a abridge spoof and parody version
poking fun how the star wars special editions had good and bad changes.

Someone made a mod to overhaul the graphics for Morrowind, and I don't mean the one literally named for it. It's not current gen level, but it's better, and only requires disabling the steam overlay for that game.

Films: The Black Cauldron (Disney Live Action remake). There aren't many films I want to be remade/remastered because most today aren't too good but the Black Cauldron I feel would be perfect to be remade today and make it better than the original.

Shows: Teen Titans, Naruto, Digimon,

Games:
Remastered - Burnout 3, Sonic Heroes, Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, NBA Street 1 & 2.
Remake: Digimon DS, San Francisco Rush+ Sequels, Enter the Matrix.

Pokémon Snap would be pretty amazing with modern graphics, but it's probably infeasible because of how many Pokémon there are nowadays.

Too bad that the photography game genre never got popular in the west. I used to play a Japanese Snap clone called Snapkid's on GBA. You had to travel around taking photos of monsters, using tools to lure them into performing various actions. And the photos got rated and converted into cards, which were then used in a card game against the other characters. Was a neat concept, but it was never released outside of Japan. ...that's an another game I wish they'd remaster.

Well, the original Snap didn't even have 150 pokémon in it (somewhere around 80 or so, if I remember correctly). Either way, I'd just be happy with an HD version of the original rather than a sequel. Even so, modern pokémon games have full 3D sprites with unique animations for all 700+ pokémon, so a console game with 300 or so of those pokémon wouldn't be unreasonable, I should think.

Japan gets all the cool toys, but I see your point. There probably isn't enough of a market for an HD remake of Pokémon Snap. It's a shame considering it's one of the few spin-off games I actually enjoyed.

Yeah I know few older games do have HD mods
and are the only way to get a HD version of those games,
get them from the fans then the official creators.

Hoping Um Jammer Lammy get a HD remastered
and I'll won't mind if they have original and modern gameplay styles
and original and remix songs.

oh the Game Black and White 1 and 2 wish that was remastered,
or as least a hd mod for the first game.

oh Swat Kats and Biker Mice From Mars action figures
to be "remastered".
They're in their same concept designs
but how modern action figures are made today.
Bucky O Hare is doing that so why not other classic obscure toons?

Funny I think a Pokemon snap hd or remastered would been perfect for the 3DS.
Just sit down in a open area and move your body to look around ingame
but as a optional feature as if you don't like that, just use the game pad.

Add in more stages and more pokemon

But Spirit Cam didn't got popular huh?
I like the idea but maybe the west don't like camera base games
besides Fatal Frame or clones like it.

crash bandicoot, but that's already happening.

crash ctr, maybe some old sports games from ps1, the three spiderman games from ps1, or the 3d sonics. as ass as sonic can be, it'd be nice to play the old ones with a halfway decent control scheme.

Did Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes ever get a visual update? If not, I think they could use it, or at least a rerelease on Switch. It's been a while since we've had a good Metroid game.

Do they even need one? You don't need current-gen graphics to look good and I reckon they look fine as they are.

Have you compared other GameCube era games to modern ones? There are some obvious weaknesses. Just look at the Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker for GameCube and The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker HD for Wii U. Huge improvements both visually and mechanically.

Last gen games don't need a remake or HD overhaul just yet (even Skyrim, Last of Us, and Twilight Princess did just that). But any game before the Wii, PS3, and 360 is fair game for a remake. The only real exception being pixelated games like Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid. Those games are iconic for their art and retro feel, making those "HD" and "3D" would just feel wrong in my opinion.

Well of course modern games in general are going to look better than GameCube games in general. One uses much more advanced technology than the other. You don't need that more advanced tech to look good, though. Even the low-poly graphics from the N64/PS1 era can look good when done right.

I'd say the only games that really need a graphics update are ones that have major graphical flaws, which isn't many. Beyond that, you're just making it prettier for the sake of making it prettier.

Isn't that the point of making HD games and this thread? Believe me, I love retro games with their old-school look (Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64, and Star Fox 64 are still among my favorite games of all time), but if they're going to be re released anyways (as a port), the companies might as well update the graphics and tweak the gameplay to make already great games even better.

It's been a while since I've played Metroid Prime, so I can't remember any distinct complaints about the controls. I just like seeing old games given a fresh coat of paint. Not to mention, making those games we grew up with look more modern will likely make those games more appealing to younger generations, which in turn, makes them more commercially viable.

I guess you feel the same way about games that I feel about movies. I dislike movie remakes, but love game remakes. You seem to be against game remakes unless the originals have serious issues.

I always thought The Matrix film trilogy needed a HD makeover
at least the cg parts that looks fake...

like the Burly Brawl scene was my favorite scene...

Oh Theres a remake of Metroid 2 coming out for the 3ds

well, we're getting some of the stages from sonic 1-3&knuckles in sonic mania so there's that for classic sonic.

actually kinda wondering just how many acts er...stages will be in that game. i mean, with the graphics they're using they should have quite a lot of space on the disc for content.

oo! Legend of Legaia with better graphics! if they could change the graphics to look less pixelated than the original (one of the playstations flaws when it comes to graphics. everything is so heavily pixelated looking.) and maybe change a few other things like making the music surround sound... that would be nice and worth paying for a 2nd copy of the game.

i just wish i was better at the combos in that game. :( especially the lengthier ones for each character.

the...megaman x series because...why not? it's not like crapcom has anything major coming out for that franchise lately anyway. so they could at least update some of the older games if they plan on milking them for money from the "but muh ps4/switch/3ds!" crowd. greedy so-and-so's...

if MMX: Corrupted's popularity takes off upon its eventual release then i bet crapcom will probably shit their collective pants and start scrambling to come up with some way to fuck over corrupted's developer(s). i mean, would that really be so surprising if it happened?

I can see Sonic Mania would have all stages
if it's later dlc.

Legend of Legaia been years i've played that game
I never played the 2nd tho
Ooo a Wild Arms remake... another remake XD
or just upscale the ps2 version.

what if they remade mega man legends instead?

Still wanting a new good Tony Hawk game...

When Onimusha gonna get a HD release? XD I want that
the ps2 and xbox version in one, and with a nice upscale makeover.

just think, that opening song in beautiful surround sound quality! ^_^ that would sound awesome.

though, i suppose legaia would be good too. and i think the first game was the better of the 2.

what if they remade mega man legends instead?

:/ and if they decide to can it again will they blame the fandom a 2nd time? much as i'd like them to do something better than releasing collections of emulated games (classic collection 2). it's a bit risky with crapcom.

that's a pretty good game. plays similar to resident evil too but with swords and bows instead of guns. i'd prefer actual updated graphics though. i'd rather they give the graphics a proper update. upscaling can turn out stretched and ugly and i got enough of that from FF Type-0 HD.

that rerelease was not HD. it was ugly stretched and pixelated textures. go watch a let's play or something and keep an eye on any doors you see and you might see what i'm talking about.

I'll admit, I haven't been paying attention to gaming news lately, but I just looked over the Wikipedia articles for Star Fox 2, Sonic Forces, and Sonic Mania. I gotta say, I'm actually excited for this year for video games. If it takes a subpar year (2016) to get good games this year, I'll take it.

oo, i just checked and it looks like the release date for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA might have been confirmed now. gamefly changed it from 12/31/17 (which i was assuming to either be unconfirmed of sometime next year) to 9/12/17.

ace combat 7 on the other hand says 12/31/18 so that's still a long ways off.

Yeah I hate dlcs, worst if it's fake dlcs and micro transitions.

ah ok I never finish Legend of Dragoon even tho I've own it
I've finish Xenogears tho, I think that should get a remake.

Yeah Megaman can;t get a break getting a new good game.

Kinda Wish Capcom bring back Darkstalkers
even if it was a spin off fighting game a "Capcom Remix Fighters"
with at least 6-8 fighters from the series, and besides the common ones.

Well I should have said overhaul hd remaster like "Halo 1 HD" or Resident Evil HD that was on the ps3, xbone and etc etc.

Devil May Cry HD Collection wasn't that bad.
But I can see your point,
With the Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper HD collections,
some of the characters models needed a upgrade.
a it need more then a upscale but a overhaul make over, being polish up with

yeah, that's what i meant. overhaul them instead of just giving them an upscale. i mean, they need to offer us something worthwhile if they want our money. rereleasing games unchanged or with just minor graphical changes isn't really worth it if you still have the original in working condition or something.

Yeah, Nintendo issued a tweet about yesterday I believe. The "SNES Classic" is what they're calling it. Aside from finally releasing Star Fox 2, they also packing 20 other games into it such as Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy III, F-Zero, Donkey Kong Country, and Castlevania IV. And it's only going for $80.00. Best of all, it's launching just a day after my birthday, on September 29th, 2017.

This is perhaps the best news I've heard in a long time from the game industry.

I think a "good" example would be Half Life 1 on the ps2
as they updated and replace the game with better models
and have abit better textures.
Then added a new side story and mini features.
well I think Capcom did that a few time too... not much tho...
Maybe something like Capcom and HL1 examples

I would dearly love to see Jade Empire by BioWare remastered or given a sequel. It was the first BioWare game I played which led me to the Knights of the Old Republic games and eventually the Mass Effect series. I mean it had a solid foundation, you really don't get a straight up martial arts style game like that...they always tend to be shooter games.

I'd also like a new Freelancer, even though Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen were supposed to be that, they really focus too much on the MMO part of gaming. I want a single player space crawler that delivers RPG type questing and exploration like a Fallout game but using the Space Mercenary type combat of Freelancer.

Another game I would like a remaster or a total overhaul and re-do of is the old DOS Game Mean Streets by Access Software. I imagine a more Deus Ex like RPG game with some of the crime elements you find in LA Noire. Its a really old game, but Tex Murphy was my first playable character on computer gaming.

Lastly I would love to have a remake or re-do of the old Buck Rogers tactical games from SSI: Countdown to Doomsday and Matrix Cubed. These were two games that brought me into the Tactical RPG Genre that was later overwhelmed by things like Warcraft, Command and Conquer and Starcraft. What always set Buck Rogers apart was the storytelling and the tie in to the old Buck Rogers series. I'd love a revamp of the Tactical aspect of the game in a fashion similar to something like Banner Saga or even a kind of Mass Effect RPG clnne set with the Buck Rogers Universe in place.

For Movies I'd like a re-boot of the entire Aliens vs. Predators saga. They destroyed what is essentially a story that writes itself with bad movies. I want them to focus more on the Predators and less on the humans. Establish a back story for the Predators and how they might tie in with the "Engineers" from the Alien movies. How they hunt dangerous species around the galaxy, but how the Xenomorphs and Humans are their "top tier" prey. They really dropped a ball on this franchise I think.

For TV Shows I would like to see a re-make of Perfect Strangers but instead have Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) play as his character Borat Sagdiyev and tie him in with a more refined personality like a Michael Weatherly or even Alfie Allen. I am not one for situational comedies but I always held a soft spot for this show...mainly because of Bronson Pinchot (Balki) but also the absurdity it led to.

Another show I would love to see rebooted is Night Court. There are plenty of good crime and courtroom dramas out there, but we need the casual comedic stylings that brought Night Court into my heart.

That's what I mean by "hoarding". Buying up multiple copies to resell at an elevated price, which is technically illegal. It's what happened with the Wii and Tickle Me Elmos a few years back. That kind of shit makes me really angry.

Yeah ... I can see a rule/law being made because of that bs.
"only two or 3 of the same items if it's
a toy or game or game console
can be sold per person
if it's a limited amount/resource of items.

and to be very strict that person would be id'ed

even tho that sound overboard...
those kind a people who just ebay them 3 times the amount
later on after the bought it... they deserve it.

But, really, my service provider can drop Spike and Gusto because their programming is bad. Also, I want sports in 4K yesterday. I tried watching our The Dark Knight DVD on our TV and realized its 480p and old production quality looked bad, so we need a better copy of that which we're never getting. Not what you were asking for?

I pretty much don't want to replay any games I've finished, ever. Same for basically every TV show and anime I've ever seen. Replaying video games is a chore for me, and rewatching most shows is tedious because I remember well what happens next and they rarely had much going on in the first place. I. Do. Not. Understand. How people can do that and not get bored out of their skulls sooner rather than later. Somehow, though, I'm usually down for rewatching a movie that I liked. Understandably, I'm not particularly interested in newer, higher quality versions of things I've already experienced because I don't want to re-experience them.

How about reprinting the good versions of acclaimed and somewhat obscure books (that I won't finish anyway) so I wouldn't have to hunt down deals on the highly collectable original versions? Please can I get Hanns Heinz Ewers physical books in English for less than $20? Gah! Limited runs don't help either. What the fuck. I got both of those exact books in "very good" to "excellent" condition (no longer!).

And music. Yes, I do want those old songs remastered or re-recorded if possible with current technology, because I don't appreciate the potato microphones and other audio equipment of bygone generations. Clarity and detail are my gods, usually, not unasked for fuzzy, muddy, indistinct grain.

The ranting is not over.

I remember hearing somewhere that its going to be remade using the skyrim engine. I would love to hear Anhaedra (a deadra you taunt and turn hostile) tell me "After I kill you, I will rape your corpse. Don't worry. I'll be gentle." but i'm worried it would mess up a lot of stuff. Mainly the intervention spells, mark/recall, jump(spell) and dwarven darts.

That Daggerfall unity game looks good, that one looks like it would be fun to play too

yeah if Morrowind is gonna be made it needs a better hub and menu system
as I remember you can resize everything like the map, items windows...
but it felt like pop up ads then anything.

sequels prequels remakes reboots

nobody is making anything else these days

so they might as well remake https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raumpatrouille_%E2%80%93_Die_phantastischen_Abenteuer_des_Raumschiffes_Orion

Theres always remake/reboot ideas
like take good or bad films, shows, games, and do them better
not because of a nostalgia cash grabs only, because those always fail.
But you want them to be entertaining.

kinda feel bad for Jem and hologram fans... gheese what bs

The same goes for the Ghostbusters reboot.
I like the idea for a gender swap version,
but the writing is just awful.

I personally wouldn't mind a Sonic SatAM reboot, as long as the "new" series remained faithful to the first season's tone and themes. Although, I'm pretty sure what the Archie comics are moreorles about.

I won't mind that either, but I kinda prefer continuation series tho.
like how Samurai Jack did

Honestly I would kill for a remastered version of Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose. Incredibly underrated psychological horror games; I'm a sucker for psych horror and obscure titles.

Yeah those games were like Clock Tower but better
I kinda wish Clock Tower get remade too

For Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose
I like to see those get a nice graphical face lift too.

I always think movies does poorly sometimes need another chance too

another Willy wonka and the chocolate factory film
if it's a remake/reboot or some kind a continue story

or John Carpenter's The Thing movie

I kinda actually like to see a video
of John Carpenter's The Thing,
but given the gameplay of Dead Space
with a dash of Aliens Isolation and
the original game's trust feature but better.
