Topic: [Bug/Invalid] Text boxes occasionally stop accepting input in mobile browser

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

This topic has been locked.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
All textboxes site-wide.

What is the expected behavior?
Typing a key should cause it to appear on the textbox.

What actual behavior is given instead?
None. It's as if nothing was pressed.

Time of incident (if applicable).
Last occurrence was earlier today.

Can you reproduce the bug every time?
No. It's random. When it happens, it persists until the browser is closed. I was using a Samsung phone with Chrome if that helps.

What steps did you take to replicate this bug?
I tried to type in a text box with my phone.

Errors or other messages returned (if any).
None. When it happens, it acts as if nothing is typed.

Are you using the chrome app?

This doesnt seem to be a bug with e6 as much as a bug with the app. Ive had it for ages.

Yes. I'm using Chrome on the Samsung. It hasn't happened with other sites, so I don't know if it's just a part of the site that isn't used in other sites or something else.

Its definitely the app. Its a bug introduced three patches ago. Happens on fa as well regularly.

Whats happening is the app suddenly starts typing in the url bar. Who knows why?

I've been having this issue with the chrome app too. Once a tab becomes glitched, it stays glitched, so the only solution is to re-open the page in a new tab. I assume the app is the problem, and not this site.

Was able to reproduce this on a random site using Chrome for Android. This appears to be a browser bug.

You can fix a bugged tab by using the refresh command.

Sorry to post in an invalid thread, but I tried refreshing. As stated, it persists until the browser itself closes.

The problem is your phone is using too much stuff. Close all of your other apps and it may fix it, too.

Apparently, refresh actually works for me. Before I was just tapping the URL bar and pressing enter (which doesn't work).

Android Chrome does not refresh if you do that, I've noticed, yeah.

Only the browser is open.

Hm. When's the last time you turned it off, how many tabs do you have open, what's the battery level, and when's the last time you stuck it into a bag of rice with the battery removed to get rid of any internal moisture?

No, I'm not joking with that last one. as moisture gets into your phone it can mess with it, and it's a good idea to drain it out rather than just dry it out. I do not know how far the effectiveness of a bag of rice actually goes, of course, so maybe it is a stupid idea, but it definitely works if you dropped it into a puddle or something.

I turn it of every night, it's one tab, the battery is usually mid 70's, and I'm not allowed to go near the rice because it's in the garage, and that's as much as I'll say about that.
