Topic: [Question] Keeping SFW & NSFW artist tags seperated?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Should a SFW artist account be aliased with their NSFW account just for the sake of tagging or are exceptions made?

In relation to forum #208599, the artist had requested (in a DM to me) that he prefers his aliases to be kept seperare for his own personal reasons. I have wrote on the artist wiki of both tags to have them seperated but it got aliased anyways.

Seems to me that it's more related to specifically searching. If an artist has an NSFW handle and an SFW handle, then $NSFW_HANDLE is like $ARTIST -rating:s and $SFW_HANDLE is like $ARTIST rating:s. If the tags are not aliased, then this creates an interface inconsistency:

For non-'split' artists, you must search $ARTIST -rating:s to get NSFW, $ARTIST rating:s to get SFW, and $ARTIST if either is ok. For 'split' artists, you must know that they are split, you must know both names, then you can search $NSFW_HANDLE for NSFW, $SFW_HANDLE for SFW, and ~$SFW_HANDLE ~$NSFW_HANDLE for both combined.

I don't know how serious an issue that is, I can only say that in general I'm in favor of minimizing syntax complexity and especially of minimizing special cases.

Don't forget the risks with not complying to an artists request, namely "well fuck you I'm nuking my art!" I'd say keep them separate.

If the artist wants NSFW and SFW separate, they're kept separate. There's several other artists who have tags split like that.

That would have been good to know inside the thread itself.

I've split up the tags again, but someone who knows that artist's works better than I will have to clean these up.

Yeah, sorry for not mentioning that earlier when it was suggested. Didn't realize it.

I will go through his posts and retag the artist tags.

(Also if anybody was wondering, there are still some NSFW works on his SFW alias but he doesn't mind the old works being there, only his new works.)
