Topic: [Feature] "Lock" deleted submission pages

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.

Basically every submission that has been deleted should no longer be able to be edited by anyone below moderator rank. While it's fine for people to see tags/source/description/parent post/comments/pools they should simply not be able to further comment on the submission, or change any of the fields associated with it.

Why would it be useful?

Would stop people from continuing detrimental arguments on deleted posts, as well as better prevent intentional tagging vandalism and related things.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?

All submission pages, various comments pages, potentially modes on the index page as well.

I am undecided on whether or not the permission to add/remove a deleted post from a pool should be left to staff as well.

I'm somewhat leaning towards no, it's fine for normal users to remove deleted posts from active pools.

Aw. This would make it impossible to clean up typos and such from the master tag list, though. As long as a typo is still tagged on a deleted post, it shows up in the search.

That's exactly what I was about to start fixing. It's alright if I do that, right?

I suggest lowering the needed rank, basically because of what Genjar stated.

I have also dipped my toe in fixing deleted post tags, sometimes going as far as using intuition to fill in the blank... I agree that the rank needed should be lower than moderator+.

+1 to locking, to combat vandalism.

+1 to lowering the permission level. I sometimes edit deleted posts to get rid of bad tags (typos, updated character names).

Is there any chance the permission level will be lowered? Especially with the new tag autocomplete feature, fixing typos is a good reason to edit deleted posts. For example I'd like to fix the niiples tag on post #2046016 so that taggers can more easily see they've made a typo when they start typing nii and get no autocomplete at all.
