Topic: what -> invalid_tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Pretty sure this is actually a valid tag. I'd hold off on nuking it until we get some other points of view.

How can it be a valid tag? It is a viewer's opinion of an image, not anything to do with the image itself.

Its being used because whoever is putting the tag does not know what to tag so they say "what" as if its a question. The only instance I can see it being relevant is if the word what is in the image and even then its pretty useless as you can simply do english_text otherwise we'd be tagging every image that has any word in it with all the words in the image.

Its akin to tagging an image "Bad_picture" or "I_don't_like_this" or "garbage".

The what tag is funny and traditional. Please refrain from removing it from images.

No, because it has nothing to do with Pinkie Pie. Do not try to use false equivalencies in this discussion. They are transparent, asinine, and disingenuous.

This. Don't remove it, there is no need to and you're not making a very good case to remove it.

Like where_is_your_god_now, this too is a viewer reaction image describing an extreme, in this case of an image that evokes not just a double take but at least a triple take ("what the fnark?!) mixed with "what the heck was going through the artist's head when he/she made this?" I don't think it's meant to be negative, but neutral, possibly with some amusement on the average viewer's part.

Again, this is meant to be an extreme, and it is subjective, although, like with where_is_your_god_now, the subjectivity is not so much in what the tag describes than where viewers would draw the line in whether the image is extreme enough to deserve the tag.

I do not understand why this is being used as a tag, but I will be removing it whenever I see it.

Please, please bring it up for discussion before you nuke any tag that has posts. It might be serving an actual purpose

That tag has a clear, defined use and I just put it back. Aside from that, what, what has science done, where is your god now, etc, might be subjective and a bit sloppy at times but they serve a huge purpose for blacklists.

Last user I saw delete that many valid tags got permabanned. Are we not doing that anymore?

Careful, you'll get reported!

I've always viewed the "what" tag as a tag for images that make you say/think "What?" when you look at them.

Pretty sure it used to mean what_has_science_done tag

I kind of thought what_has_science_done would go with extreme weirdness that would fit what a really nutzoid mad scientist might come up with had he the funds and materials while reality needed to roll a sanity check. :p

OP has a warning to watch out for Blaziken in their user info.

It's silly, and childish, and mostly pointless.
