The description for Nymlus (a floraverse OC) on e621-wiki used to read thusly: "A dinosaur-flower thing that seems to be the rejected design of bayleef."

I'm treating that as vandalism since it's obviously aimed to be mocking (and I already fixed the wiki page 3 weeks ago), but what really gets me is this comparison.

Nevermind the fact that their planty parts are on different parts of the body, that one is biped and the other quadruped, that one has a long neck, that they don't have even one colour in common–

They didn't even pick the Bayleef evolution that has flower petals.

It's like, in some twist of ignorance, the joke became even better. I had to share it for a sec.

if you're going to make a joke wiki page, at least do it right like the tag_hell page.

I'm glad that you also made the wiki for the frilled petal dragon, Floraverse's species are an absolute nightmare to keep up with. Kudos to you.

Oh, no problem. This one is the easiest to cover because there's a lot of (lewd) content of one of the frilled petal dragons, because Anonymless likes to commission a lot.

They're not a nightmare at all, unless you get into species that don't yet have a species sheet on the floraverse wiki, then forget about it. And in my experience those are only rarely featured in drawings -- and if they are, it's by an artist who is DNP anyway.

Well, I take back what I said about it being a nightmare, I didn't know there was a wiki. When I had to find out about these crazy species, I only used the website. It wasn't fun. Thank you for telling me, time to de-confuse myself so the current events make sense.

It was too old to take action upon. I wanted to make a joke about the former wiki page, but now it wouldn't make any sense.

Honestly, Nymlus is going to be an official character at this rate, they are irritatingly common to stumble into off-site.

The funny thing about Floraverse is it isn't just a webcomic, it's an open-world universe. Essentially, anyone can create their own species that fits into Floraverse's design, and/or their own character, and it's... well, it's not considered a "fan character" like it would be if his were any other webcomic.

Nymlus has been widely featured in the second Floraverse website, Forbidden Flora, drawn by GlitchedPuppet no less (and GP has always said that the porn in Forbidden Flora is canon), so yeah she's canonically existing in Floraverse's world.

(You could say the same about Carissa_and_Cale.)

Unless that's not what you meant by official, then maybe I've just been running my mouth. But if I have my facts straight, both GlitchedPuppet and Anonymless had a hand in Nymlus's design.

I'm being a bit brutal with official, a more precise is "plays a (major) part in the main story" or "...several parts in minor stories" (and I recognize that Forbidden Flora is canon, but I put it to the side since, for example, it's hard to rationalize Beleth and Amdusias being remotely close to the other for any sexual interaction); I hold a bit of a grudge against fan characters since they're either walking deus ex machinas, or are extremely mundane (Nymlus falls into this). I've been chastised over story and character creation for a while, so forgive my demeanor.

I honestly want to make a joke about comparing Homestuck and Floraverse, between open-worldedness and fan characters, but it'd be far too cruel. But I'd dreadfully fear PK if she started pulling feathers from Hussie's hat...

I would compare it more closely to GlitchedPuppet's previous project, PMD-e (a Pokemon group), given the worlds feel similar and the open-world, all-created-characters-join-in, seems much closer between those two than any other example I can think of. I mean if you create an OC in any other thing it's just a fan-character and that's all.

I'm personally more psyched about the ability to invent species and introducing those to Floraverse's world (more than just an OC)
