Topic: [Feature] Default to reduced samples on mobile site

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
When user browses site with mobile view, reduced samples should be default behaviour instead of dynamic scaling.

(As side note, parent/child post links are nowhere on mobile site)

Why would it be useful?
If user is browsing the site using mobile view, it is really high possibility that user is using mobile device or tries to minimize the amount of content they are loading at once.

This would avoid the situation where user opens post with superabsurd resolution post, to see absurd res or huge filesize tags they would have to scroll whole image down to see tags at which point the browser has most likely already crashed.

Even if this wasn't the case, there's also possibility of metered connection and/or lower speed connection, where lower amount of data overall is always appreciated.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Mobile site

Updated

+1, along with the ability to lock your image resize mode (if possible).

It should this way on the desktop version tbh.

I keep it on forever and have much faster loading times as a result.

Yeah, 800px JPG doesn't look good at all with modern desktop resolutions and connections. Other boorus do seem to use this by default, but I'm pretty sure this is for them to save bandwidth and fit more ads (and some doesn't have dynamic scaling).

Meanwhile on mobile the DPI is so absurd these days that even if it is compressed image under screens native resolution, majority wouldn't notice any other difference other than site loading much faster.

Of course if the default behaviour is changed, users could easily just use mobile mode also on desktop if they want to have samples enabled as guest.
