Topic: How to get minimum quality standards

So I've been trying to upload stuff, and I have been staying above the 200x200 limit, (That's what it is, right?) but my stuff keeps getting taken down for too low quality...

The minimum quality requirement isn't just about the size of the picture it's about the artistic quality too. e6 isn't a gallery for beginning artists, it's an archive for high quality furry art.

your original works look decidedly amateur in comparison to the bases that you have colored over. i could explain why, but the mistakes are fundamental and fails to demonstrate a basic grasp of artistic principles. if you're lucky one of the janitors might be patient enough to point out some of your flaws.

look, you know what good, proper, professional artwork looks like, right? it'll take you a few years before you get to that point. i recommend staying low and drawing in private until the point where you look back on your previous work and start to hate it. you may consider nuking your DeviantART gallery while it's young so you don't look back and cringe when you're a little bit older. not to be mean, of course, but you really do have a lot to work on before you get taken seriously on even the most basic level in the artistic community.

judging by your deviation Homework or Torture?, i'm going to guess you're in... tenth grade? nothing wrong with a kid getting freaky with it, but this is an 18+ site, and being a teenager will be one of the most angsty, arrogant, and cringe-inducing times you'll ever look back on (source: was teenager). you will most likely suck at a lot of things you do during this time. the best way to minimize the suck is to have as little of it online as possible, so when you graduate and start looking for a job / college / whatever, you won't be rushing back to delete all of your old and embarrassing artworks.

actually, your recent lightsaber Blender model doesn't look too shabby. have you tried taking 3D modeling more seriously? of course it's an even harder medium to get into than digital art, so pick your poison.

Photographs of drawings are not acceptable. Photographs of low quality drawings even less so.

Bad, illegible, 275x200 photos of drawings uploaded for the purpose of using it as your avatar are not acceptable, despite staying above the "200x200 limit".

Highly aliased, bad 3d "artwork" with genitals and a sex toy crudely added is not acceptable.

I've looked at the images, I can tell you thinks that can be improved to better the chance of it being approved in the future:

For the 3D art:

  • Aliasing in 3D art is bad(although not in all cases, for example, pseudo-pixel/retro).
  • Missing textures
  • No background
  • UI elements still visible
  • Image looks kind of squished, not sure why, try taking at the highest resolution possible.
  • Looks like SFM or Garry's Mod. SFM and Garry's Mod 3D "renders" do not look good in my opinion, even though they sometimes meet quality standards, I highly recommend using something like Blender

For the drawn art:

  • You should use a scanner instead of a camera. Any time anything is taken with a camera is a automatic deletion from me. Not only because quality reasons, but because safety reasons for users because most cameras still have the EXIF data in there(INCLUDING LOCATION!)
  • The canvas has been torn by hand. Using scissors is a better choice.
  • 200px is a recommendation to stay above, not a "you can shrink it down to this size". When we can barely see what is going on due to the tininess of the image, it lowers the chance of being approved.
  • "Just uploading here to use as my icon.". Don't do this.
  • Amending to above, you can use any resolution post as your icon. If you really want to use a icon, you can upload a good high resolution post and use that, it automatically gets shrunk down.

Mairo approvals (all but one of your successful uploads) are last-chance freebies, you're gonna stay mad if that's what you're basing your target standards on.

Instead of necroing 4 years old forum thread and getting angry in the comments of posts, you could simply be filing takedown and be done with it ages ago already :V

I'm not entirely sure if my post I made was deleted because it was a paper drawing instead of a digital one. but it can also be precisely because I uploaded it with my cell phone camera. thanks, now I think I have a better understanding of why my post was deleted
