Topic: Tag Implication: hanging_from_branch -> branch

+1. Seems appropriate.

Unfortunately we don't have any tags for characters in "hanging position"; perhaps this is a good moment for creating one, but I am not sure.

Hanging would be the most obvious but is disambiguated. Dangling returns many relevant results.

Dunno about the base tag, but hanging_by_tail exists. Maybe we also need hanging_by_arms and hanging_by_legs (post #846011)...?

These are nice tags but how far are we supposed to go with this tagging? I was planning to add a tag sitting_on_branch when I soon found out that there already was a tag called on_branch and now I’m unsure about the need for this tag.

I’m also somewhat disturbed about the lack of a specific tag for characters that are just hanging from a tree branch or other structure.

For characters that are specifically held up by another character there is ‘lifted’ or ‘carrying’ but not for characters that are held up by their own force.
According to 016 ‘dangling’ is used for both characters hanging up, being suspended by another character or suspended by another object and I believe this is correct.

Maybe the best idea is to turn this tag into hanging by the characters own force/will only and remove all unwanted post from it, or create a new tag and turn dangling into a general thing for hanging characters.

sitting on_branch as two tags works well enough.

One way we could do this is sort images into the following three tags:

  • Character holding themselves up: dangling, since hanging can't be used.
  • Character held up by another character: carrying.
  • Character held up by bondage of some kind: suspension.

No need for special "action_on_thing" tags when "action on_thing" (as two tags) will do the job.

One thing that might be an issue is that dangling might cross over a bit with climbing.

That seems like a good idea but what about characters that are just hanging by a robe? Shall we just use suspension for that?

You mean rope? She's being suspended in the air, so it's suspension.

ye I'm not good at English spelling.

But I mean in a non bondage setting. I’ve looked into it a bit and the description of suspension says ‘depicting a form of bondage’ so we can’t use that.
The tag bondage says ‘If a character is bound by another character non-sexually, use bound instead’, and bound says ‘where a character is tied up, chained, cuffed, or otherwise restrained.’ So we should use bound instead but that’s not very specific.

What do you think of a general tag for hanging? It would be nice if people can just find images of characters hanging in some way or another by just one tag.

I suppose a call to include non-sexual bindings in the suspension tag is in order. After all, whether it's being done for sexual purposes or not doesn't change the fact that someone is being suspended in the air.

The problem with hanging is it can be refer to the execution method as well as the general act of hanging from something. Then again, being hanged does involve hanging from something anyway so it could still work.

I find it actually hilarious that a tag like that can cause a problem like this.

Anyway I trust your judgement in this. You seem better at finding a solution for this then I am.
