Topic: [Feature] Option to hide your profile from search indexing

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
Many websites allow you to decide if your profile will show up on sites like Google or Bing, by creating a robots.txt directive for your profile page. I'm requesting that e621 adds this feature.

Why would it be useful?
I don't care for this most sites but I consider my presence websites such as e621 too private to be visible like this.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Your profile page and subpages such as your list of tag edits, record list, favorites etc. will be hidden from search indexes. Posts where you have commented or threads where you have replied etc. are not affected.

Thanks. Yesterday I thought I saw several results for my username on this site, but now only two? I guess I scrolled away too fast.

If you want to separate your account here from other accounts, use a different username. Since your profile is hidden from searches, they won't find out that you change it there, but unless you do that, then comments and forum posts will show up in google still.

Our robots.txt already prevents this by default for every user.

i see there's no way to stop wget from cloning the entire site and all its contents.
