I have noticed a large increase in darker, more disturbing art, showing up lately. Now i have no problem with freedom of expression and whatnot, if it turns you on that's fine by me, but what I'm not too happy about is that alot of the art is not properly tagged which in turn compromises the effectiveness of the blacklisting system. I personally find art and other media that portrays (including but not limited to) torture, pleading for mercy, hardcore rape, snuff, brutality, intense gore, cannibalism, violent homophobia, and anything associated with the user whitekitten, etc. very disturbing and would rather no see it, so if you post things please tag it properly.

if tag is missing, just add it by yourself and maybe politely message the uploader to request that they add the tag in their future uploads.

Usually people are pretty decent with tagging hardcore kinks, but if they're not, it doesn't hurt to send them a PM and notify them of their bad tagging.

You should also try and add the missing tags yourself, you haven't made any tag edits yet, but it's never too late to start. Your effort might spare another like-minded individual the grief of seeing such "horrible" content.

there is also the distinct possibility that e621 has always been horrifying, and you're just noticing it now.

it might be time to get creative with your blacklist and tag things tangentially related to what you're seeing in order to knock them out without needing to search up what exactly you're trying to blacklist: things like what, why, and lol_comments, for instance. then you can have half the page blacklisted just like your best pal me.

I'm always wary of pming people about the tagging stuff. I used to then realized in a way it's sort of like backseat moderation (of which I've always had an issue with). These days I tend to just tag and move on, or if it's a repeated offense or string of tagging errors I leave a comment on the most recent post with an error, tag and move on. If it continues then I send a report into the mods. Cuz seriously, pm a user and say the wrong thing and they report it? Your in trouble. Figure it's safer to comment or report.

I've never run into trouble PMing uploaders and asking them politely to use certain tags. On the flipside it's rarely effective, most of them don't change their behavior at all. But what else can you do? Failing to tag properly is not against the rules (rating excepted).

i've wanted to make a forum post where one attempts to define the four least helpful tags one can upload a post with, though i get the feeling i would be breaking a taboo.

though the rules do state the tags have to be at least accurate, if not complete, i wonder how green or apathetic an uploader would have to be in order to not understand how to tag the very images they uploaded?

the silver lining with having badly tagged posts slip past your blacklist is also being the person most motivated to fix them. for instance, the young tag is constantly mistagged and undertagged, a yin and yang of sorts.

Don't inkbunny and furrynetwork require users to tag certain subjects with penalties if you don't? There could be a similar rule here with certain commonly blacklisted extreme tags like young, snuff, and scat.

For the longest time I actually thought conditional_dnp was an artist haha.

On a similar topic to this thread I’ve noticed people on the macro are not tagging genders. I’ve been fixing them but its frustrating because it kind of renders the blacklist mute.

Frankly I don't care, wanting to see kids fucked is an extreme fetish and the art is legally a grey area at best. People who want/need to avoid it tend to find it at least as objectionable as scat.

I know furrynetwork at least requires tags, with listing this as a requirement in their Acceptable Upload Policy. Inkbunny on the other hand, I can't seem to find any mention of a tagging requirement, although everyone still tags quite a bit on that site.

Apparently it's not limited to controversial/objectionable/extreme content, but it is emphasized for it: "It is especially important that you add keywords describing themes that you think users would commonly use to find your submission or what they might commonly wish to avoid seeing."

Before even reaching disturbing (to some) content and kinks;
I would be happy if uploaders could differentiate (based on wiki definitions and common sense) and tag appropriately the simple prefixes small, big, huge, and hyper.
