Hey guys :)

I'm sorry that this is such short notice, but I suppose I should at least tell everyone that I'll be stepping down as e621's lead administrator, effective immediately.

It's something I've been considering for quite a while now, for a few reasons. The underlying issue though is that I've simply burnt myself out, and feel that my actions and words as far as handling the administrative team have not been indicative of a good leader. I let the stress of trying to handle so many aspects of the site just get to me too much the past few months, and I feel that the site will only suffer if I continue to try to lead it at this point.

The simple fact of the matter is that, although I've enjoyed and felt a sense of accomplishment administrating e621 over these past 2 and a half years, it's just simply not something I enjoy doing anymore, and would prefer to spend my free time focusing on exploring new hobbies and basically just trying to better myself as a person. :)

Some of you may recall that, before e621, I was a head admin at AGNPH from late 2003 until late 2010... nearly 7 years! Combine that with my 2.5 years on e621, and I'm looking at nearly a DECADE of furry website administration. Wow. :P Suffice to say, I think I'm ready to hang up my administrator hat for good. :)

We've not yet named a replacement, that's something that I'll be working on with Varka today, and the administration might have a bit of restructuring as a result (dividing tasks up more and such). Believe me, I didn't really plan on just dropping the site so suddenly, but unfortunately things just didn't work out that way.

I wish Varka, the administration, and all of our users all the best. :) I don't plan on disappearing forever, but I do feel that I should take a step back from my site responsibilities and just focus on making the transition to new leadership go as smooth as it can (yes, despite my sudden departure).

Being a lot of time in the same place can make somebody go nuts.

I wonder who will be the new lead admin. It certainly can't be me, I'm a nut already. Whoever gets the place, I hope the new knows how to manage a madhouse :)

All that happened BEFORE my decision to step down. :P As I said, we've not selected anyone to take over my role yet, but Varka and I will be working on that and getting it all sorted out in a timely manner. :)

First TWYS update proposal, and now this? It's April Fools? We're now having April Fools in middle of May, right?

Good luck Char in the future; I know we've talked a lot about this before, and I'm glad you finally decided to make the jump and pursue what you actually enjoy :)

Regarding who will be the new 'leader', I'm currently evaluating the situation and our available candidates, but do not have anyone specific in mind yet. I would really appreciate it if anyone interested in the role could email a basic resume and a coversheet explaining why you'd be a good community manager to [email protected], so I can go through and figure out how best to take things from here :)

There've been a bunch of structural changes I've been holding off on for a while now that can move the site and us forward quite a bit, so in many ways this is kind of the impetus needed to get us to change things up a bit and make things happen. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and I believe we can continue making the site awesome for our users just fine in Char's absence.

Just kidding, Barbados is going to be your new manager, and I'm going to leave on vacation tomorrow for a few months. Have fun with the site! :D

Sad news that you're stepping down, Char. The site changed a lot under your leadership, pretty much entirely for the better. Best of luck with whatever you do next.

You know, folks joke about Mellis, but he was still my favorite "old guard" admin.

Jesus, what? I stop checking the forums for a month and we've got TWYS changes, apparently Null is gone, and Char steps down.

Your administration will be missed, Char. I felt you were always levelheaded, evenhanded, and with the best interests of the site in mind. It's been great seeing how the site has changed and grown in the last couple years I've been on here, but I'm confident you and Varka will be able to find someone who can keep it moving in the right direction.
