Could Marvel make a live action TV show containing an "anthro" (more like kemonomimi)?
Marvel’s New Warriors Will Be Filming in Atlanta
Marvel is expanding their relationship with Freeform to include New Warriors, a show will be filming in Atlanta down the line. Following their previous collaborations with ABC and Netflix, Marvel TV is expanding their reach to include Hulu for Runaways and Freeform for Cloak & Dagger. While Cloak & Dagger already has a cast, filmed a pilot, and released its first trailer, Freeform has also been working to bring New Warriors to life on their network.
As a sister-network of ABC, Marvel’s partnership with them is no surprise, especially considering the younger demographic that Freeform targets. This is precisely the audience both sides are aiming for with New Warriors, as it will bring Squirrel Girl and others to the small screen. Even though casting has not yet been announced, the series now has a filming location.
There are no production photos or trailers yet so you don't get to know how furry this character will look.
Squirrel Girl has appeared in various Marvel comics from 1991 to 2017. The TV show is based on a comic called New Warriors that did not contain any appearances of Squirrel Girl:
A live action half hour comedy series based on the New Warriors is in development by Marvel Television and ABC Studios. The series received a direct-to-series order with 10 episodes and will debut on Freeform in 2018, co-produced by ABC Signature. The team will consist of Doreen Green / Squirrel Girl, Craig Hollis / Mister Immortal, Dwayne Taylor / Night Thrasher, Robbie Baldwin / Speedball, Zach Smith / Microbe, and Deborah Fields / Debrii. Reportedly, Squirrel Girl's sidekick Tippy Toe will also appear in the series.
