Haven't used it myself cause I don't have a Windows, but if it performs as advertised then this is probably what you've been looking for.

what a coincidence, I don't have Windows either. and to that point i don't use any proprietary software, which i assume this is.

I'd definitely recommend TumblThree, the only downside I can think of is that there's only a Windows version right now. The application itself is really good though, it can download raw files and you can specify whether or not your want to download reblogs or certain tagged posts.

Usually manages to get the highest quality images.
Also gets .mp4s (videos).
Handles cumulative updating as well as one-off scraping, and other sites (reddit, imgur,...) too

Requires Java.

Also, I have a question. Is there a program or something that'll download all the raw images from a NSFW tumblr? I imagine NSFW mode has thrown a spanner in the works for most programs that rip tumblr archives.

JDownloader can download images from almost all sites. You can give it a try.

Last time I tried, that did not give even any option to download images and with videos it always downloads lowest quality 480p version, so this is pretty much useless, especially on usage that was asked for.

Not a downloader, but the site gramunion came to my attention recently. It allows one to view (at least some) NSFW tumblr content without requiring a login. I tried photonoko: tumblr & gramunion. It seemed to have all of photonoko's posts from a cursory glance.

Are you sure?
I've tested it some minutes ago with some tumblr pages. It gave me all images in source quality back and even downloaded mp4s, gifs and any other content on the page.

That's why I said "last time I checked" as I wasn't sure of latest working. It does appear that I was using NSFW blogs and didn't have logins in, which is why images didn't work. Now they seem to work, but it downloads _1280 instead of _raw, so unuseable.
With videos however it does appear that those are fixed and now it downloads highest quality version instead of _480. Then again, I can get those faster with browser and at the same time get link to the version to put in sources.

TumblThree downloads NSFW blogs without login. The login is only required for hidden (login required) Tumblr blogs, since you cannot access them without any authentication.

TumblThree downloads _raw images.

Sorry, but you could at least have followed the link. It's written in the first sentence that it's open source.

After not even passing the reading test, demanding from someone to write you something (for free) is not really the fine art. Also wanting from someone else something as complex as a crawler written in BASH is something impossible/next to borderline.
