Topic: A question about uploading my own artwork here...

Posted under Art Talk

So, though I'm new to furry fandom, I started making my own artwork by the name hexami. I draw my work with Colors! 3D application for 3DS and I have my own Tumblr as my source for my possible uploads. So, the question is...

Do I need any kind of pre-existing experience about uploads from other artists, or tag edits of pre-existing artwork, before I could start to upload my own pics here after the 7-day cooldown?

Any kind of help is appreciated, since I'm little nervous about making any kind of mistakes within my first week.

If the meet a certain minimum quality standard, feel free to upload them (alternative is them getting deleted).

Okay, that's good to know. I've been checking quality of my first pic (that I will send here) daily, so it will be here with the best quality as possible, when it's finished.

Hi there!

First of all, thank you for considering uploading your artwork to e621. It's very helpful for viewers to have your material available here in an easily searchable format, and we're happy to help with any questions.

Secondly, there's a few wiki resources that explain e621's policies better than I can in a succinct comment. Here are the most relevant links for an artist uploading their own content:

Uploading Guidelines
Tag What You See)
Tag Index

You can always access the main wiki page by clicking the 'Wiki' button on the top bar, which links to many helpful resources, as well as allows you to search for tags and their meanings.

Finally, feel free to link back to your Tumblr post and gallery in the 'Source' field of your uploads. This ensures interested users are directed to your other material, serving as credit and free advertisement for the creator.

By quality I meant the actual art quality, not image quality.
Stick figures in 2000k x 2000k resolution with 10gb file size won't get approved.
You could post link to your tumblr and ask others what they think.

That's what I was thinking because I couldn't find it with google.

That's actually the thing I'm worried about mostly. That's what I'm checking daily.

Drawing on the 3DS' tiny resistive touchscreen isn't doing you any favors. Getting good results out of that is a task for an accomplished artist. You'll have a much better time if you stick to traditional media and a scanner for now.

The problem is... I don't have scanner right now, and I have a bad habit with traditional media. Everytime I see something wrong in my paperwork, I give up and waste good amount of paper during that process.

Newsprint paper is incredibly cheap and perfect for practicing on and throwing away. Get some and some soft pencils. Do warm up practice like gesture drawings on it before trying to do a real piece of work. Save up for a scanner or tablet.

Regarding that first thing, I've seen before people posting actual pictures of furry drawings here. Provided the picture is high-quality enough, it could fly. You'd just have to make sure that the picture is really good.

Have you tried looking at Freecycle, Craigslist, or one of your local libraries for a free scanner?

I'm not familiar with those websites (I rarely use them), but my nearest library is in the center of the town, but I'm not sure if it does have scanner for anyone to use, since it's smaller compared to bigger library in the nearest city. Need to visit both libraries for scanner tho, if my pic isn't going to be good enough quality here...
