Topic: Tag Alias: jager_(rainbow_six) -> jäger_(rainbow_six)

I cän! But yeah, I see no disadvantages with it and the option, assuming we don't want half the posts tagged jäger and half tagged jager (shudders...) would be to teach everyone with phonetical keyboards to type it incorrectly. To me it makes sense.

+1.

While I do have umlauts on my keyboard, aliasing away diacritics (as with pokemon -> pokémon) isn't new and is rather conveinient for people with unaccented keyboards.

I totally agree with you, @Fifteen

Huh? Why was this rejected?

Likely because of the umlaut in the target tag. Had it been the other way around, it might have been accepted, maybe.

I think it's actually official, in Germany, that if you need to type a German word with umlauts on a device that doesn't have umlauts, you use the basic vowel with an "e" after. For instance, if your last name is Müller, your Visa card will have Mueller stamped into it.

.jäger would get typed as jaeger according to this rule.

I don't know how well this rule is known outside Germany, though.

I think it would be an ok thing to implement, and that would be in line with "instead of writing japanese letters, use their romanized writings instead".

For example, けものフレンズ becomes ke mo no _ fu re n do, which in turn becomes kemono_friends
