Aliasing useless_armor → unconvincing_armor

Reason:

Ran into some problems trying to find the exact accepted wording for this tag, thankfully the armor wiki ended up helping me out.
Still, we could do with a few more sensible aliases to unconvincing_armor alongside the ones already there. Like useless or ineffective (which I'd also tried, but no cigar).

Seems I'm not the only one for whom 'ineffective' springs to mind before 'unconvincing'.

I think it should be a bit more general for unconvincing armor that isn't necessarily just, you know, revealing_armor

boobplates come to mind as something especially egregious

for those of you wondering, if each of these fellows were stabbed in the thorax, the breastplate on the left would deflect the blade outward, and the one on the right would be perfect for guiding the blade right through the sternum

Useless and ineffective are both situational and can apply to anything in an unfavourable situation. I mean, that breastplate's not gonna do shit to protect ye if the enemy's aiming for yer head.

That's definitely true, and Fenrick makes a solid point too. But I got a feeling these tags weren't really supposed to include a whole lot of real-world logic in their definition, and then apply to basically anything that's not realistic full plate armor or something approaching it. Or you could turn that logic around and have the tag apply to nothing, because no armor is truly useless, having shitty defense is always better than having none.

But that's not the point. In the scheme of E6, they really just seem to be a concise way of saying "This guy/girl/thing's waltzing around (or often doing some sexay pose) practically butt naked, with a few random straps of armor that essentially amount to a medieval version of wearing thigh_highs + elbow_gloves."

It's just sexualized armor sets worn by sexualized warriors.

Maybe we should be calling it skimpy_armor instead.

Reason: revealing_armor and ineffective_armor have both now been aliased to unconvincing_armor, effectively settling that debate. useless_armor still occasionally gets posts so it seems worth covering that base too. That leaves us with skimpy_armor, which since this thread was created has managed to amass about 10% of the post count of unconvincing_armor. It has no aliases or implications, about half of its posts are double-tagged with unconvincing_armor anyway, and looking at the rest it's pretty obvious which tag was intended.
