Topic: The slit tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I've been looking at the slit tag and I noticed that genital_slit implies slit but slit_pupils does not.

I was going to suggest that they should both imply slit but I looked around for other similar tags first to see what I could find.

This is what I found:

slit (3578 posts)

slit_pupils (3098 posts)
slit_play (62 posts)
slit_sex (23 posts)
slit_penetration (13 posts)
slit_throat (4 posts)
slit_piercing (4 posts)
slit_wrists (3 posts)
slit_insertion (2 posts)
slit_iris (2 posts)

genital_slit (2601 posts)
side_slit (43 posts)
cum_on_slit (19 posts)
spread_slit (18 posts)
cum_in_slit (9 posts)
horizontal_slit (8 posts)

It seems the only one of these tags that implies slit is genital_slit. Should all of them imply slit or would it be better to invalidate slit instead?

They aren't the same...not exactly. What we are looking at is this:

  • A pseudo-opening where a penis ("intromittent organ") is tucked away until use. This is roughly analogous to a sheath. We tag this with genital_slit or slit.
  • An all-in-one opening in birds/reptiles/etc. that serves as the reservoir for urine, feces, and reproductive organs (for fun, here's some frog anatomy. Many artists prefer to draw the anal area separately, hence the distinction. We generally tag this with cloaca but it sometimes gets tagged slit as well.
  • Ambiguous opening on feral characters. We usually just tag this with slit.
  • Female characters tend to get cloaca or pussy (when the anus is present and it's not anatomically correct), male characters tend to get genital_slit, and ambiguous characters tend to get just slit (usually to make a distinction between a pussy since the sex of the character can't exactly be determined from just a slit).

An alias was suggested in forum #126779 but the discussion got kind of...disordered. I think an alias would be the simplest here and slit -genital_slit seems to agree with it. I had no idea that slit_play, slit_sex, and slit_penetration were being used.

I'm pretty sure slit_sex/slit_penetration can be aliased (or at least implicated) to docking? (what happens with Slit_insertion may become an issue though... especially since we don't seem to have a sheath_insertion tag to compare)

Ok, I know this is an old thread but it doesn't seem like it ever reached any conclusion, So here is my suggestion: The current use of slit is ambiguous slits, but that's too vague if you ask me. So how about aliasing to ambiguous_slit for clarities sake? That way we don't have to change the meaning but it will be much clearer what it means.

man this thread died twice. just started a new one- and it doesn't make sense to use an alias, as "slit" is furry community shorthand for "genital slit" and will get most normal genital slits with penises sticking out tagged as ambiguous.

To necro or to recreate a redundant thread... hmm, OK, continuing this one.

cloaca_play Is this a legit tag or not? There are so few slit_play tags, as it is. Technically, without a clearly separated anus, all slit_* are cloaca_*? This doesn't seem like a useful tag but wanted to be sure. Note: Only 1 result post #2998024

I'd say no, just as anal_play and vaginal_play aren't. cloacal would be the tag for indication sexual activity with a cloaca (same as anal, vaginal, and oral are for their respective orifices).

Without a clearly distinct anus, yes. Something like post #3048603 where the anus and slit are "connected" would still be a genital_slit because they're distinct, whereas a cloaca shares the same function as both a slit/pussy and anus.

No. That'd be about as redundant as penis_play. Cloacas and genital slits are already innately sexual.

That's still a cloaca, specifically a long cloaca. It's only genital slit if it's an entirely separate. Single opening = cloaca.
Furthermore, genital slit can also be tagged if the area where the anus would be is hidden from view and the species matches something that normally doesn't have a cloaca, or if the position of the slit makes it clear that it wouldn't contain an anus (e.g. in front, roughly the same area as a typical sheath).

Thanks. I was pretty sure it wasn't a legit tag, but wanted to clarify. Removing it stiff there.
