Topic: e621 Extender (Similar to Furaffinity Extender)

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

Hi all,

Was wondering if someone might have created a extension/tool/add-on similar to the Furaffinity Extender Add-on avaiable for Firefox?

http://andrewneo.github.io/faextender-chrome/

With this add-on, it adds a simple download button/link in the title of the picture you are viewing which, when clicked, saves the picture to a specified download folder and then to an optional Artist sub-folder. I find this very handy as this was how I was already organising and storing pictures I was manually downloading from Furaffinity and speeds the process up quite nicely.

In the case such a tool didn't exist for e621, would it be possible to create one that functioned similar to as described below?

I tend to browse and download a lot of My Little Pony images. For these images, I tend to store them according to their character name i.e. Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, etc. In the case of OC ponies, if a character name is not available, I'd store it according to Artist Name instead.

In this case, would it be possible download and save pictures so that it is stored to a E621 root folder, that goes to a Character sub-folder and within this folder there is a Artist sub-folder which the final image ends up in.

Unfortunately my skills with scripting is very limited and I'm not too sure where to start on such a task like this. Any help would be great appreciated with such an endevour like this

I think e621 Extend and something like RipMe could be used as sort of like what you're thinking of.

I'll take a look into setting this up, though not sure how I might get it working. Some tinkering is needed most likely.

Does this add-on still work with the latest version of Firefox?
Because Firefox recently changed its add-on API to be more Chrome-like, and now Firefox add-ons can't save to arbitrary folders w/o using native messaging.

Can confirm it still works on the latest version of Firefox, been using it for the last few weeks without any issues. Was updated on the 4 of January so must be taking that new API change into account now.

Given Ripme a shot, doesn't seem to have the functionality I was looking for. Also got a bug where it will only download the preview image rather than the full sized image and is also not saving tag information.

Can you edit your first post in this thread, so it includes a link to Furaffinity Extender?
Preferably to its homepage, because it has links to both the Firefox and Chrome versions.

When you talk about something that not everybody knows, it's always good to give them a link ^_^

I just installed it, and the config option is "Optional subdirectory inside downloads folder".
The add-on still works, but you can't save to arbitary directories, they must be in the Downloads folder.

Is linked now in my first post. As for the Arbitary directories, is not much a issue to work with it in the Download folder. Just synchronise it to my Dropbox folder.
