Topic: Tag Alias: james_(the--jackal) -> the--jackal

Aliasing james_(the--jackal) → the--jackal
Link to alias

Reason:

it's two different titles used for the same character for example view these two posts https://e621.net/post/show/1086654/2015-anal-anal_penetration-anthro-anthro_on_anthro and https://e621.net/post/show/1459550/2017-5_fingers-absurd_res-anal-anal_knotting-anal_ (also note i'm aliasing this in this manner since it created an error when i tried doing it vice versa)

EDIT: The tag alias james_(the--jackal) -> the--jackal (forum #260016) has been rejected by @NotMeNotYou.

also please keep in mind this is my first time creating an "alias" so if I did something wrong please let me know so I can be a better member of the community.

Oppose,
FA username the--jackal has various characters:
James, Jamie,
Julia Nair, Adriana 'Addy' Rodriguez,
Aaron Ryan, Veronica Ryan,
Sacha,
Cynthia Truesdale, Cyrus Truesdale,
Mi Yuen, Jade Yuen,
and Zane. (source )

so none apparently named the--jackal.

Maybe have the--jackal be type copyright tag?
with james_(the--jackal) IMPLYing to the--jackal ?

edit: alternatively, just split the--jackal into the appropriate character tag(s)?

This looks like a case of misunderstanding since both tags have the character type.

Probably because `jwt` is aliased to the--jackal.

+1, since we have other tags the ends with `_(the--jackal)`.

I'm very fond of the name_(owner) formatting.

I see where I've gone wrong thank you @EarthFurst2 perhaps to alleviate future confusion I should/could go through and properly tag the characters thus totally eliminating the tag of the--jackal all together (or move it to a copyright tag as previously suggested)? since it appears that the--jackal tag was used in cases where the poster didn't know the proper name of the character so they defaulted to using the--jackal i'd like @sdrawkcaB to weigh in on this decision (I apologize for my lack of punctuation I didn't want it to interfere with my links/@ 's)

I vote for making `the--jackal` into a copyright tag and then add both tags on posts where this character is present. I've seen that some people have copyright tags for their characters, like `drayk` and `donritzu`, just to name two.

If you want to, I can change the tag type into copyright in case you don't know how to do it.

I am pretty sure we don't advocate using copyright tags that way...

If it's desireable to state that the characters all belong to the--jackal, I think it'd be preferable to make it part of the character tag: james_(the--jackal). sacha_(the--jackal) etc.

Considering how common 'james' is, this is probably a good idea all together anyway.

Okay, but then we can approach the other option that Egor mentioned:

And after that we can change the tag type of the--jackal to general.

We do on a few things, but I don't see these characters as having the popularity for it. Most characters who have such popularity are part of an actual copyright anyways.
