Topic: (ISSUE) Anyone else having problems viewing webm vids?

Posted under Off Topic

A few weeks ago my kindle fire tablet stopped playing webm... randomly.
7/10 it shows the preview image, tracking bar, and download icon for the player but the play button is greyed out and doesn't work... tried refreshing the page, clearing cache, etc nothing.
2/10 it plays, but the video is blank or frozen on the preview image it displays before you press play. I can hear the sound if it has sound but no actual video...
1/10 it plays no problems....

Driving me crazy and is reminding me of the problem ipads have with webm... if I download the video and play it with a 3rd party video viewer it works 99/100... but since I do a lot of tagging this is insufferable... and annoying since the tablet is a shared device...

Anyone else having this issue?

Things to distinguish are that is this problem with the files or is it site related issue.

There have been some edge cases with the files where they have been impossible to play with certain software completely thanks to something. Thankfully filetype check has been fixed to prevent most obvious cases with this one and I'm always somewhat on monitor if there are users complaining that they cannot see something.

Last couple days I have had some slowness issues when using the site, which has made it so that I have to be bit patient for the webm files to buffer. Site doesn't have anything fancy set up with the videos, they are simply the uploaded file embedded with <video>. So if your software doesn't handle long buffering well and the file is really large and long with next to no keyframes, these can be pain to play if site as whole is being slow.

Never used to have this issue, it just started one day after an update (which is why I'm asking if anyone else has had this issue).
It's primarily webm, so not site related since webm breaks on pretty much every site that uses JUST webm for their vids, like some of the other booru.

I need to go to sleep now, but apparently I am NOT the only one who is having problems with this.. noticed someone else is complaining about broken vids and wondering if the ones able to see them are on pc or phone/tablet. Pointed them to this thread so hopefully others will speak up too... be nice to figure out what's going on.
wondering who broke the internet... like how they broke it for tablet users who like viewing Adobe flash... or ipad users who like webm when Apple decided they were too good for it and stuck with mp4?
