Topic: Are we in the "Dark Ages" again?

Recently, I saw some news about things like how SJWs are dominating the entire culture (mostly gaming culture, but other cultures still applies) and how Japan will change its own rules to appeal to said SJWs after the 2020 Summer Olympics has caused me worried. If this really happens, what will happen to our beautiful world we live in?

I'm feeling really paranoid because of it. Is it just me, or are we feel like we're heading towards the "Dark Ages" again? What do you guys think about it

Note: The news I saw recently are from the gaming news site One Angry Gamer. I'm not a gamer though, I've just discovered it by accident. Here are some articles I've found:

The dark ages started after Tumblr fucked their hi-res images into the ground.

Usually, when you are trying to discuss a news topic with people, you provide basic context such as what exactly SJWs are "taking over", or how exactly Japan "will be changed".

Also, adding a link to the supposed news wouldn't hurt.

"Dark ages"? No, that would imply no signifigant "progress" of any kind is being made, but we are entering heavily monitored, regulated, censored, and bias era, especially in the digital scene.

I'm not exactly the right person to talk that long. As for the links, I thought it was widespread so I don't post it, but I'll probably add it later.

Well, not quite dark yet, but still.

it's called the dark ages because most records of that time were lost, so it will forever be unseen. we will be in the dark about what happened.

I though dark means something pessimistic.

Interpreting your reply as charitably as I can manage, I'll just point out that that is one possible meaning of dark, and kamimatsu is pointing out that the correct meaning of dark in the context of that phrase, is not 'pessimistic or negative' but 'unknown'.

The relationship is fairly obvious IMO : unknown things lurk in the dark, so we often view it negatively.

EDIT: I read one of the OP links, what exactly is happening (ie. the correct way to understand the political landscape and the kind of result to expect from it) is unclear to me.. aside from Sony shooting themselves in the foot, I'm pretty sure that is a thing that is happening.

I feel like this is more an issue of corporate bodies not having an accurate view of their consumer-base. Most of the "SJW" involvement in gaming just comes from employment writing for or about gaming products, leading to high visibility. With the increasingly corporate nature of the gaming industry, most of the people making decisions are going to be looking at their peers, colleagues, and corporate media more than the actual consumers of their product.

Until you get to the point that the consumers start boycotting, anyway.
