Topic: Should spread_legs be used for wide stances?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I had tagged this with wide_stance, which was only tagged on a few posts at the time and currently isn't tagged on any. Kyubii retagged it to spread_legs. I guess that makes sense by the letter of the wiki, but it doesn't seem to fit in with the in-practice usage, which is overwhelmingly sexual and rarely involves characters standing upright.

I'm going to recreate and repopulate the wide_stance tag, because otherwise I don't see any good way of searching for this pose. My question is whether spread_legs should also be tagged on these posts. In other words, would a wide_stance --> spread_legs implication be valid?

Yeah...I don't think so. Like you said spread_legs is mostly sexual tag, and wide_stance. I can imagine a few images in which a character is standing in a wide stance while nude that might justify both tags...but as far as an implication...no reason to conflate the two just because it's technically correct.

I support a second tag, as, while technically correct, seems like a case for an implication.

wide_stance should, I think, imply standing and spread_legs

spread_legs standing solo seems like a good place to start for filling out wide_stance.

That said, I see a few that are crouching or kneeling instead

Are there any other 'standing leg position' tags out there?

like these seem fairly unique:

post #1479060 (this seems like it should have a name already, like horse stance or crane stance... .... Kokutsu dachi? back long stance? I think? I think? My karate skill ends with the Three Ninja Kicking back, and Mister Miyagi waxing on about car wax.)
post #1479429 (I mean, I 've seen a LOT like this. .the looking back between one's own spread legs...)
post #1478509 .. related to post #1423871 ?

Okay, so:

We have one vote in favor of implying wide_stance --> spread_legs (SnowWolf) and one vote against (Dyrone). Anyone else have an opinion?

For now, I've edited the wiki to say that they don't go together. (This way, if we decide otherwise later, it's easy to fix.)

I'm against the wiki change. Implicate it instead, like SnowWolf said.

Spread legs is spread legs, regardless of the stance. Exceptions are always problematic for tagging, and should be minimized. Trying to separate those only creates various problems such as how to tag quadrupeds with spread legs.

For example:

Those can't be tagged as spread_legs under this new system, since they're standing. Yet they're definitely relevant to the spread_legs tag.

Completely untrue. I literally said "I can imagine a few images in which a character is standing in a wide stance while nude that might justify both tags"...those are some of those cases.

I think the point of "spread_legs" is to show off naughty bits...just trying to avoid typing in spread_legs and seeing a bunch of characters just standing around completely clothed would be weird.
