Topic: Flash Games Unable to Download Files?

Posted under General

I've was playing text games like Corruption of Champions and MVOL that have a save feature that downloads a file that can be loaded later. However, I'm unable to download anything that comes from these games. It gives the download prompt, but when I attempt to save the file, it doesn't download. I am using the latest version of Chrome and Kali Linux. Is there any way to get this to work?

I've been able to play those on fenexo.com, but there are more games that don't have websites that I would really like to have saving work.
R.(P.)P.S: I've seen the new CoC game and I agree, it looks great, like a nice mix between the TiTS movement system and the CoC story, and I can't wait for the full release!

Chances are Chrome is preventing the dialog box from opening.

You can find the savegames as sol files at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\WritableRoot\#SharedObjects (change the "username" to match yours, obviously), and there potentially in a folder called either e621.net or static1.e621.net.

Once you've located those copy them over to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects and you can use the savegames in a flash player that still opens the dialog boxes. Namely Firefox still does that, as does the Flash Player Projector from Adobe themselves.

I highly recommend using Adobe's Flash Player Projector instead of Chrome to play flash games, because all browsers are stating to fade out support for the flash plugin. The projector is a standalone executable and thus not affected by this. It also gives a much better performance than the browsers, but you can only play games locally. In the case of CoC and MVOL you can just download the swf and be done with it, for some other games this might not be as simple.

Thanks for the reply. As I said, it opens the download prompt and asks where to save the file. This problem only occurs on games on e621. Also, since I am on a Unix-based system, I am not able to find this directory or run files with executable file extensions.

Well, I managed to completely miss the Linux part. Have you tried searching your system for the .sol files? If you can save and load ingame then those files should be on your system somewhere. Then move the ones from e621 to fenoxo.com, and save them through there.

Also, the first Adobe link has Flash Player Projectors directly for Linux, just scroll down a bit pick the one that's best suited for your flavor of Linux.

There are no *.sol files on my file system. I'm pretty sure they store it in the browser's memory because it is session-based and there are no files that were found with the sol filetype (except one completely unrelated one in a different program).
