Topic: Are Animated GIFS not allowed here?

Posted under General

Because if they are it seems the populace doesn't like it.

What's the problem? Not a fan of TF, there's not enough smut? I've posted many, many non-animated images before of the same nature and I've never seen so much hatred.

The animation might have been better received if it had been in a single gif, not spread over five 2 second long gifs.

People not liking something has nothing to do with if it's allowed or not. Yes, AGIFs are allowed.

That is something to think about.

Too short, perhaps. Too many submissions to click through. Single, longer GIFs are preferred.

I will keep that in mind.

But no too long either, if it's like id say over a minute or two, better make a video so viewer can jump around and watch the part they want (besides the fact that gif is bad for long stuff)

I'm a big fan of transformation and frame-by-frame animation, but even I was a bit annoyed by how short each gif was. If they had all been in one image, I might have favorited it, but split apart, I found myself annoyed.

So basically I'm agreeing with NotMeNotYou that it's the length of each that's causing a problem. Technically, each one is fairly well done.

I was just about to ask if extremely fast-framed seizure-inducing gifs such as these ones are okay here, but reading the thread, I'm assuming that it won't.

There's difference what's allowed and what's not liked.

We do also have seizure warning and there's couple of those things posted here already as well. However where derpibooru allows screencaps and poor edits we don't.

Thanks for clearing that up. It's a given blessing that e6 doesn't have animated avatars yet because users might abuse it using vibrating gifs.

Thumbnails in general aren't animated yet, and the avatar is essentially a thumbnail.

(posting here because didn't see a more appropriate forum thread)

https://e621.net/help/show/uploading_guidelines
has "Screen captures: Screenshots from games, still images from movies, video snippets from youtube, etc. etc"
in "Bad things to upload".

Wandered across animated gifs by Konskript,
http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/konskript/

NOTsfw example: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/14945402/ (piledriver position? shoulder_stand?)

On the plus side, they depict anthro characters.

Since they depict Skyrim species assuming they are from game video footage,
so would they just be deleted if uploaded to e621?
(they are short gifs, but each depicts a different position so combining them into longer gifs would probably result in too many positions in one gif)

Character assets from games are more than fine to be used on artwork posted here.

However problem here is that that user seems to be doing these gifs using only the game and mods for the game. These still count as game screencaps and are deleted as such, modding exsisting game isn't far from using sandboxes like Second life. Even if they aren't deleted as screencaps, 3D artwork is judged from the standpoint that what has been done with the assets, with porn mods in skyrim, you didn't even pose or animate anything, all you did was hit play and then record on screen recorder.

Also if the artist has already posted something in some way, most preferred way is to directly post the content here as is. This is to avoid dublicates, possible quality degrade because of poor handling of stuff, etc. Also with gifs as that's 3D content, end file could become massive but also have color issues because of palette difference between the gifs.
