Topic: Is there a way to search for recurring characters?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

If I wanted to search for a specific character, such as Marty (Onta/Doxy) Then I can find this sort of page:

Sure not every single image is the RIGHT marty. But it's enough that I can find all images of that specific character. There are also characters with sub context that link them to their artist.

But is there any way to search for a character tag like this? Have only images with a named character show up?

For example if I want to find a femboy character who has LOTS of images that include that specific character. (Like Marty) Is there any way for me to search something along the lines of:

  • Femboy Named_Character

Something that will only include images in where at least one of the characters has an official name. This way I can find characters who have lots of images of them. Like Marty, like Taylor.

I've tried things like "original_character" but that seems to only relate to characters involved in a canon show like MLP, but are of 'original' creation.

chartags:>=1 will give you results that have a minimum of 1 character tag

So if I wanted to find a marty, a possible search could be marty* chartags:>=1

A small tip: I find that including the underscore helps get rid of undesirable results. Compare, for instance, these two searches:

mark* chartags:>0 vs mark_* chartags:>0

The former, as you can see, gets rather bloated with a bunch of tags like markings.

By the way, this is a bit off topic, but I like how in like every topic you're around helping people. You're good people, Dice.

Fair point honestly! The underscore does help in removing a lot of unwanted results, though if the character lacks an underscore (not too common nowadays) it might be accidentally filtered out. That was my logic with not using an underscore in my suggestion, anyways, ahaha. But regardless, the addition of the underscore does help you get to what you want better in this case.
