Topic: [Feature] Reuploading formerly DNP images

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
I tried to upload http://alfa995-nsfw.tumblr.com/post/174644140665/caramelldoensen-yes-i-revived-a-10-year-old-meme, an image that was formerly paysite only, but which was recently released to the public, as the artist does with all of his pay content. However, the image had been uploaded previously as post #1551867, while it was still pay content, and thus DNP. This post was deleted.
The raw tumblr image, the highest quality copy available, has the same metadata as the deleted image from Patreon, and trying to post it gives the "post already exists" error message, redirecting to the deleted 1551867 page. I request that the function that prevents users from making duplicate posts be altered to ignore deleted posts.

Why would it be useful?
It would allow the site to feature posts that were only temporarily on the avoid_posting list, like paysite content that is released for free after a set time, or from artists that request to be added to be added to the list, but later change their minds.
However, it also makes it possible that a presently DNP image could be uploaded multiple times, wasting server space and potentially opening the site to spam.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Duplicate post checker

Another option would be to retain deleted posts on the site server, excluding low-quality/irrelevant/illegal content.
Should the reason for a post's deletion no longer be valid, i.e. it is no longer pay content or no longer on the DNP list, a janitor or admin could reinstate the image.

This is what happens already. Just contact the staff to point it out.

(Spoiler for off topic)
Which staff member should I contact? NotMeNotYou seems like the proper admin to ask, but one time I messaged them regarding a deleted post and never got a reply.

This would be avoided if we didn't have dumb users posting paysite material to begin with.

Luckily some artists do have seperate versions indicating when something is from their patreon and when something is free release, but some doesn't.

NotMeNotYou is head admin and only one handling DNP and takedown content, so no matter who you contact they have to forward you to them regardless.
