Topic: [Feature] Rewording Rules for less ambiguity

Reword this part of "Posting Abuse"

Posting real pornography / real images or videos depicting illegal activities (such as bestiality, child pornography, etc.)

It's ambiguous because apparently all real-life photos are banned but there are several on the site:

https://e621.net/post/show/9721/
https://e621.net/post/show/9719/
https://e621.net/post/show/15930/
https://e621.net/post/show/21954/ <-altered photo, maybe allowed?
https://e621.net/post/show/50975/
https://e621.net/post/show/50760/
https://e621.net/post/show/48824/
https://e621.net/post/show/45393/
https://e621.net/post/show/58710/

I'd suggest rewording it like this

Posting any real-life pornography, photos, images, or videos. Materials involving illegal activities(such as bestiality, child pornography, etc) will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Specifying illegal activities in the same sentence implies that materials that don't involve illegal activity would be allowed.. Since I've been informed that photos aren't allowed on e621, the ones that are already here should probably be removed too.

Look at the date on your examples- the 'real photo' rule was put in place long after those were uploaded so they're grandfathered in. Photomanips are still allowed, and yeah, that should either be explained or changed.

My point about the wording being ambiguous still stands.

If ALL real-life photos are banned(outside of HQ pictures of drawings), why specify "illegal activity"?

Also, what's the point of banning images, then grandfathering in the ones already on the site? Why not just remove them from the site and NOT put any marks on the accounts that uploaded them?

The Posting Abuse rule is specifically for things that will result in records most of the time.

All other images we will delete, but not give records for, are specified in our Uploading Guidelines.

This split is there on purpose because we do feel it's important to hand out records when pornographic photos are uploaded, but it's not as important to give records for, say, statues.

So photos of tattoos are allowed?

As I understand it:

Photo of a tattoo, statue, plushie, or something - deleted, no record.
RL pornographic image - deleted, record given.
Illegal activity - deleted, do not pass go, do not collect 200$.

What SnowWolf said: Photos of anything that is not traditional artwork will be deleted, but no record given for those. That includes (but is not limited to) statues, tattoos, plushies, t-shirts, fur suits, etc.

Photos that include actual pornography will get deleted and the uploader will receive a record.

If the photo contains something illegal we will come down on them like the fist of an angry god, up to immediate account termination and reporting them to the cops if required.

Again, if we take action against their accounts is governed by the Posting Abuse rule. What we will delete without action against someone's account is governed by the Uploading Guidelines.
