Reason:

Same thing. Skimmed posts with either tag and they all seem to include the same thing (a "vessel used for steeping tea leaves" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teapot )

but aliasing the other way (teapot -> tea_pot) is fine with me also)

Sounds good. Can't find anything online other than "teapot" so that should be the preferred spelling.

+1 "teapot" is the correct spelling of the word from every online source I can find.

This might be a reach, but the space also could imply that a "tea pot" is comparable to a "cooking pot" or "plant pot", both of which are round/cylindrical open topped vessels, which a teapot isn't (at least not without stretching that description).
