Topic: If I were to upload an image that I made exclusively for E6, what should the source be?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Not entirely sure where I should put this, but I want to draw a piece for E621 to see if the community likes my art, and how far I've come.
I can't really be bothered, nor want to post it on FA or Inkbunny, just exclusively for E6 so I get to know how far I've come art-wise.

You wouldn't need to put a source, but I highly suggest having a second source just in case. But that's just me...

If you don't have an off-site source, cite yourself as the artist and the post as the source in the description. If you don't know how to make yourself an artist tag, use artist:, prefixing your name, when adding yourself as a tag.

Ahh, alright. Thank you. :)

Just general PSA: if there's no source to something, then don't put anything into the source field.

This is the main reason why not sourcing isn't againts the rules as sometimes there is no source and having something like e.g. link to artists furaffinity accounts fron page will hinder those trying to help as that counts as source rendering metatag hassource:false not working.

As for posting stuff exclusively on e621, I kinda hate this. I do appreciate some first party uploading higher quality variations (smaller version at source) but generally speaking that usually means that if staff is being mean and delete that upload for any number of reasons, now it's nowhere, it's lost in cyberspace.

I have so many dmails from artists complaining that I deleted their post, because of the reason they wanted to exclusively post it here. I don't think we even have tag for exclusive content, because the starting point for all posts are that they are archived from elsewhere.

That all said, it's neither againts the rules to post stuff exclusively here, my character has couple posts which aren't elsewhere, but at that point simply make sure that you are covering all bases from guidelines.

It's a good thing for artists to upload here. It's too bad if an artist can't break through the quality barrier, which is pretty low in my opinion, but having it on e621 first likely means that it won't be subject to the mandatory compression done by Twitter, size limits at Furaffinity and Tumblr, etc. It is a win for image quality.
