Ooof.
A Spindle is also an object. While I don't think CD spindles should be tagged (lol), my first thought involved... Hmm.. Basically, you know how people used to/do use a spinning wheel to turn wool into a thread/string?
A spindle is a device that does that same thing. In the original Sleeping Beauty, it was a spindle that she pricked her finger on, not a spinning wheel.
A spindle looks like, basically, a weird top. You get your wool, comb it out all nice and straight, and...
(5 minutes) Here's a lovely Scottish lady giving instructions over here
(6:30 minutes) Here is a lovely Italian man with a fabulous mustache who's showing how a non-beginner uses a spindle and distaff over here
I'm trying to find a video of someone just showing off, rather than being instructional...
And honestly, I've spent probably like an hour at this so, i'm gonna get back to the point.
This is probably fine, very few people are probably going to recognize a spindle and tag it and most pictures here probably aren't gonna involve fiber arts like that so.
This is probably fine.

Besides, anyone who posts a spindle would be tagging it in the singular (no ending s) whilst Spindles, the artist tag, would be distinguished by being gold-colored. [/states the obvious]

Yyyyyes.... unless there were more than one in the image, and, as a general rule of thumb, we tend to alias the plural form of something to the singular if it's likely to be a problem.
As I said though, 1) spindles are not common in furry art. 2) Furry art that is uploaded here usually does not have spindles in it. 3) taggers and uploaders probably would have no idea what the heck is going on with a spindle, or what to call it.
It's probably fine.
