Topic: Species of Peg Pete and other Goof Troop characters

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

What species is Peg Pete? She's mostly tagged as a dog or at least a canine on this site, but the Disney wiki, albeit a fan curated site, refers to her as a cat: https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Peg_Pete

We can't really see her ears because of her hair, but her husband, son, and daughter are all clearly cats so it would make sense that Peg would be one too.

So is there proof that Peg is a dog or is this just mass misinformation?

In canon, the Petes are cats. In TWYS, that is irrelevant; go by what the image shows.

The problem with TWYS is that most of the time the only indication that she is an anthro at all is her nose. That isn't really enough to tell what species she's supposed to be.

... you just answered your own question. If there is no big indication of species, you don't tag any further. Ambiguous_species could work. We don't tag by canon unless it's character names or if it's certain metatags.

The Goofs are dogs. Disney is not above tired old jokes.

It goes even earlier, guess who owned the steamboat that Mickey would steal.

It's more, I always assumed they were dogs. they had a similar snout, and the nose is of a design that one would typically associate with dogs.

Even past that, the town in Goof Troop MOSTLY had dogs living in it... so.. I mean.. I assumed...

I mean. Duckberg mostly had ducks living in it.. I.. I mean....

The fact that Pete was originally a bear probably doesn't help.
