Do comments that are nonsexual in nature yet lean on the macabre or the weird still count as creepy?

This is intended to ensure that users do not express their personal fetishes/desires publicly. Users have the right, within realistic expectations, to browse comfortably without unneeded or unnecessary commentary of those who wish to express their desires.

Yeah things like absurdist comments aren't inherently a bad thing, it's more the sexually bizarre and unsettling that are a no no.

Such as commenting on a completely safe image about how you'd like to bone the character. Stuff like that

In this specific context, there are specific rules so therefore what breaks these specific site rules is what matters here

Yeah the creepy would pertain to being overly sexual in nature normally. Or like overly violent or weird

Ye'd think something like comment #3620331 would count as creepy, but nope. The only comments I ever see reported for being creepy are sexual ones.

Guys. if you see a comment that you believe is violating the rules, report it. don't just sit there and go "oh no, someone else must report this."

There are a lot of ways to feel uneasy, unhappy or even fearful about comments that are not overtly sexual. Another example would be comments glorifying school shootings, mass murder, or similar things.

None of us who aren't part of the admin team do. We don't see the warning messages that get sent or the off-screen conversations admin holds with rule-breakers, because those aren't made public.

That's why all the "he didn't do anything wrong" messages about banned users are so absurd.

Dunno about that. I see a lot of crass and tasteless comments, but most aren't as obviously creepy as the examples that SnowWolf listed.

What I'm saying is that there can be context behind a ban to which we as regular users aren't privy. That makes users' proclamations of unfairness potentially uninformed.

Another rule of sexual content etiquette that tends to get overlooked in explaining what makes a creepy comment: if you are not immediately and directly involved in the situation presented in the picture, then do not insert yourself into it or openly state that you wish to be inserted into it.

If it's a pin-up, do not say you want to fuck him/her/them/whatever. The picture is about them, not you.
If it is a sex scene between two more more people, do not say you want to get involved or replace any particular member. The picture is about them, not you.
Even if it is some really bizarre fetish picture where some six-titted vixen is having a train pulled on her by anthropomorphized representations of each car of a literal train all the way from the engine to the caboose, don't insert yourself into it. It's about them, not you.

There really is a difference between appreciating a picture, even if that picture is porn, for what it is and making the picture about you. Nobody wants to hear about you; they want to experience the picture without some weirdo crashing a party they weren't invited to.

It's a bit of a fine line maybe, but a good question to ask yourself in posting a comment is "am I talking about the picture, or am I talking about me?" If you are talking about you, then it is better left unsaid.

This is not the intention of the rule.

This was not a discussion about the ratios of what subsection of rules are violated.

The point was to provide example of what that section of the rules were intended to cover.

In conclusions: if you see a comment that is creepy, report it. Unless you are reporting everyone who moves for silly reasons, you will not get in trouble. Accept the admin's ruling, don't argue with it unless you feel that something important is being overlooked. (For example, if there is particular slang being used, we may not know what it means, or if it's a reference to some form of media) but even then, be polite. we like people who try to help and that includes by reporting comments.

There are a lot of comments every day and we rely heavily on reporters to help us keep things clean <3

Also this is very true. as well, in many cases. a ban isn't issues over a single comment, but a history of bad comments. we just tend to pick one as a particular example.

1. you are misunderstaning this. the creepy comment rule is not to remove fetish content from the site. its to stop people from oversharing and being creepy 2. there is this fun thing called blacklist that lets people filter out fetish content they do not wish to see. there is not really a way to do it comments

There is actually an option to allow blacklisted users to also have their comments and etc. be hidden from you. With this option, user:*name* on your blacklist would hide their comments (etc) from you. But I do not advocate using this instead of reporting them, this should be used in tangent with reporting them. The reason I say that this is not flawless, any comment quoted from them will still be shown and there is no way to avoid that.

Personally, I prefer the Hide Comments option in settings, but a person shouldn't have to turn off their ability to see all comments because the commenting in general is so bad.

Seriously, people, we don't want to know what you'd like to do to a character in a drawing. Just don't tell us. It's really that easy.

You can also, within the settings, adjust your comment threshold. The comment threshhold basically is a "comment must be this tall to pass" sort of thing. If you set it to 0, no comments with a negative score will be shown and will be hidden by default.

I have mine set to -5, and generally means I see most comments, except the real assholish ones. If you set yours to, say, 2, you might only see the particularly good comments.

That said, I'll reiterate again: report bad comments.

Especially, ESPECIALLY if that comment is out of line with the content of the post. (What I mean is... people talking about poop and scat on a scat picture is reasonable. But on a safe, non-diapery non poopy picture? nope! report plz.)

i meant that there is really no way to blacklist comments that are especially about diaper fetish or something
