Topic: Permission To Reupload @The_Guron 's Work

Posted under General

Apparently, @The_Guron deleted all of his work, and also deleted his furaffinity account after being harassed online. In other-words, it looks like he no longer has any plans to ever upload again, and his artist status should be changed to inactive. That being said, I came across a collection of his art that includes the original descriptions from his furaffinity, so I was hoping to get it re-uploaded here. Of course, I am unlikely to be able to contact him to ask for permission. I don't think he is on the DNP list either.

I suppose that also begs the question, if we find art from an "dead" artist, who in the past asked to have their art removed at some point, can we re-upload said art?

you're seriously asking if an artist who indicated in the past that they did not want their art here by having it all removed, if they would want it all posted again?

the answer is probably no, that should be rly obvious

Ok, granted this probably could have been worded better. What I'm trying to ask is since @The_Guron is effectively gone, with no hope of communication, whether it would be ok to upload without his permission. After all, he isn't on the DNP list so one can assume it would be okay to some degree, at least the art he hadn't uploaded before.

You must share the whole art colection, just in case something goes wrong.

vj5pbopejlhcbz4n.onion/fa/theguron/
(for the record, this is a "darkweb" link you'll need to use the Tor Browser or add ".ly" after onion.) also, if you replace /theguron/ with another lost artist from furaffinity, you might find some of their old works.

edit: the ".ly" is a proxy server, and using it results in an unstable connection that has trouble sending images. You can keep refreshing and hoping it will load the full image, but it's probably easier to just download the tor browser.
There are other proxy servers, but this one was the only one to work for me. ps, the tor browser won't work if your link has https:// at the beginning.

Etheross is still on fa as to my knowledge

is Etheross also TheGuron? I can't tell from here.

I remember seeing some of TheGuron's stuff on here which was VERY similar to Etheross, to the point I wondered if it was a trace.

Searching on DuckDuckGo for 'etheross theguron' gives a few results suggesting that etheross is in fact TheGuron - and also that they didn't want the two identities connected.

Kind of hard to avoid that if you still draw in the same general style with even a lot of the same themes..

Huh, if that's the case then I'm glad to know the guy is still drawing in some fashion. Thanks for letting me know.

Well...
The official answer is that if artist is not DNP, it's not paid material like art CD content and if the content is high quality and relevant, it can be posted. If it is artist who has deleted their content, do make best effort to check that their work haven't been already deleted on this site (e.g. status:deleted/status:any metatag search, source search with FA IDs, reverse image search like sauceNAO, Google, e621 IQDB, etc. there's also MD5 search but it's currently disabled for deleted posts thanks to single user abusing the shit out of it)

Of course we cannot know what artists and other creators are thinking from just by their actions. There have been artists who simply want to get rid of their own submissions, but do not care if others continue to enjoy their old content elsewhere.

Source going 404 is of no consern for us and actually, because we try to keep some level of archive, it's actually encouraged to upload content which is easy to go 404. This is partially why I am so keen on animated and video content as that's extremely prone for generation loss as well as broken megaupload links.

Asking for permission to post is simply encouraged as this keeps good faith between creators and viewers as well as is best approach to not have suddenly hundred deleted posts on your account thanks to artist noticing their work has been uploaded without their explicit permission and doing takedown - takedown which we will comply with and fast.
